So Dre is going to start appearing starting this chapter. If you want a little more insight on him beforehand, I recommend reading 'The Enchanted Prince'.

DFS: "Daddy Issues"

Chapter 5: Her Sixth Blessing

After what happened with the Fruends, we stayed away from Auradon square. We didn't want to risk bumping into them. Our lives were back to thieving and stealing to survive. It's already been about a month since we've been on our own. We all sat on the net of our treehouse as we stared up at the stars.

"Holly, when do we get to go home?" Alana asked and the others all looked at me eagerly waiting for an answer.

"What are you talking about?" I frowned, "we are home."

"No, home with the Fruends," She retorted. "I want to go home."

"That wasn't home," I replied, "you all need to forget about that place."

"But why?" Carson said. I looked at them all as they all stared at me waiting for an answer. Rhea looked at me expectantly. She was the only one I had told what I heard that night. I didn't want to tell them considering I was sure it would hurt them.

"Have I ever led you guys wrong?" I asked. The others stayed quiet as they looked down at the net feeling shame. "Just trust that what I'm doing is for us."

With a sigh of evil dreams, I left to my room. It's not like I didn't understand the kids...if I was honest, I was quite comfortable under the care of the Fruends myself, but it was only temporary. I wish it wasn't, but they were going to give us up.

The smart thing would have been for me to wipe their  memories before we disappeared, but...the idea felt wrong...and not in a good way. I knew it could complicate things in the future, but I was ready to face them when they came.

Despite that we left the Fruends, we continued to go to school. I figured it'd be the last place they'd go looking for us. Plus, I still wanted a better life for the kids than the margin of Auradon.

It seems no matter how long we stay away, the kids still want to go back. Maybe, I should let them decide for themselves. Maybe, it's time to be honest.

These thoughts didn't stop swirling in my mind as I laid on my bed looking at the ceiling petting Cyrus on the heads.

With the kids

"Rhea! Come on!" Carson urged, "we just don't understand why we left home. Did we do something wrong?"

"It's nothing you guys did, alright?" Rhea sighed, "it's just the way things turned out."

"But why did they turn out like this?" Jordan asked, "what did we do?"

Rhea frowned realizing without an explanation, the children would just continue to blame themselves. After all, it was something their parents conditioned them to do.

"They couldn't take all of us in," Rhea replied, "so they were going to give us up. Luckily, Hol's got us out of there before anything major could happen." The kids faces fell and the group became silent. "Again, it was nothing we did. Just the way things turned out."

"Hope, I'd like to talk to you for a minute before you go," Coach said pulling me off to the side after practice. I sat on the bleachers looking at the empty field as the boys were heading to the lockers.

"Our game against Auradon Prep is in two days," He said, "and you're the only one I haven't got a permission slip from." I stayed quiet. "Look, our team could really use you on that game and that's why I'm being insistent."
