Chapter 9: Bad Blood
I knew it was family day in Auradon and honestly, I was curious to meet the people I've researched, so despite the fact that I completely disappeared on them on Friday and was put on a short leash, I made up my mind on astral projecting today during the event even if it was for a little while. Luckily after stashing a few items in my room from Jafar's shop, he automatically complained about needing to restock his shelves. I went to my cave and quickly said the spell appearing next to Jay who was busy sticking his tongue in what looked like a fountain of mud.
"Ew," I said grossed out.
"Ew?" Carlos laughed who was standing on the other side of Jay, "it's chocolate. It's delicious." I shook my head as I went to stand next to Evie who was holding Dude. She smiled at me.
"I see you decided to join us," She replied.
"Well, it is family day," I replied smiling back as I pet Dude's soft fur, "and I am family." Evie shook her head smiling. "I mean it, Eves, just because I'm connected to Mal by blood doesn't make her anymore of a sister than you. I've always seen you as my sister too."
"I know, you've always been one for me too," Evie smiled looking toward the grass on the floor. "You were right about Chad. I should have listened. I'm sorry I didn't."
"Some lessons you have to experience yourself, right?" I replied, "don't ever apologize to me for doing what you want to do. Even if it was a mistake. I know I go commander sometimes, but the moment you feel obligated to do as I say is the moment I go live with my father because I've become my mother." Evie laughed and it was so nice to know we were okay for sure now. "Where's Mal?"
"Meeting Ben's parents," Evie replied.
"Ew...they're in that phase of the relationship already?" I asked, "going a little fast, aren't we?" Evie shrugged. "Is he meeting mom next?" Evie laughed as I heard Jay and Carlos choke on the chocolate behind me. Mal turned to wave at us and Princey and his family turned to look our way. Evie waved. Carlos had his mouth covered in chocolate with a stick hanging out waving like a dork before stuffing another chocolate strawberry in his mouth, while Jay just smiled as chocolate dripped down one side of his mouth as he held another strawberry on a stick into the fountain. I shrugged at Mal. I mean what could we do? This was our family. Our crew. They all turned to converse some more.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Evie asked.
"Oh, probably wondering if the feral children devouring the fountain just lack table manners or if they need to be potty trained as well," I replied as Evie and I turned to look at Jay and Carlos who were still going crazy over the brown goo. We both laughed before we turned to look back at Mal who was being led back by Princey. I didn't miss the small faint Belle had the moment Mal turned away making me stifle a laugh. "Speaking of wondering, did Mal do the amnesia spell and get the ring back?"
"Yup, she did it yesterday," Evie replied. We watched Mal and Princey walk over. The boys immediately moved away from the fountain and came to stand next to us.
"The King and Queen invited us to a game of croquet before lunch," Mal replied smiling.
"Croquet?" We all asked together as Mal shrugged her shoulders.
"Don't worry, I'll teach you guys," Princey smiled, "Come on." We all followed Princey down into the garden where they had all the games set up. In the end, Evie ended up chatting it up with Queen Belle. Carlos cared more about playing with Dude. Jay was the only one interested as he played a game with Mal as Princey explained to them what to do. I stood next to Mal as she leaned against the Croquet stick.
