The minivan stopped in front of the children. The driver-side door opened, and a woman walked out. The woman was dressed like a non-specific 50's superhero, with two differences. One; she didn't wear a mask, as many heroes did even though their identity was public knowledge. Two; she had a police badge pinned to her costume.

"What is this?" She pondered out loud. "Six children, some unconscious and the others covered in blood. Now this town has no patience for any metahumans, especially not violent ones. I'm the only meta allowed here, and as such it is my duty to keep you chaos stirrers out, so just turn on around now."

"Please." Eli started. "We need a hospital."

"I don't care watcha need, the law's the law." The woman's voice struck Ruby as familiar, and finally she realized who this woman reminded her of.

"You wouldn't happen to have a daughter, would you?" ruby asked the woman. "One that goes to Major Tom's school for th-."

"Lake!" The woman cut Lucy off. "Are you friends with her? How is she doing?"

"She's doing great." Ruby said honestly. "But as you can see, we currently aren't." The woman took one sweeping look at the injured group.

"Fine." She said. "That building nearby is a hospital, I'll take you there, but I don't want to see any of you using any meta power doohickey thingamabobs or what have you. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am." Ruby said.

"We also... need a way... back to the school." Zen said.

"I can't help you there." The woman said.

"I... have plenty of money."

"Really? I do know of a guy in town trying to sell their old van. If you really have the money, that should work."

"That will work." Zen said, and not a moment later the group piled into the back of the woman's minivan, and she drove them to the hospital.
