Johnny met Lucy in the main gathering area of the dorm hall, like they had so many nights before. Lucy was staring out the window facing the tree, as she had done so many nights before. Johnny planned to go up to her and tell her a story from his childhood, as he had done so many nights before. But Lucy stopped him.
"You've told me so much about yourself." She said. "So, I want to tell you something about myself. When I was young, real young, I used to live in a convent of nuns. They had a lot of girls under their care. But they shamed the use of powers, constantly going on and on about how unnatural and demonic they were. There was one girl I knew who sprouted horns one day, then I never saw her again. Another girl told me that the nuns brought her to the police station and tried to get the officers to arrest the girl on the grounds that 'she was the Antichrist'. Well, one night, I woke up in the middle of the sky. One of the nuns was shouting at me. That was the first time I ever used my power; I only discovered the other one last year. After that 'blasphemy', as they put it, they sent me away to the neighboring orphanage without anything but the uncomfortable sleepwear I was already wearing. I have never seen any of them since. I do miss them." She turned to face Johnny, before smiling. "But I can't say I don't like what I got in its place." She winked at him before walking past and heading off into her dorm room.
