Rossiya Moretti POV
I felt a hand wipe tears I didn't even realize were falling. I didn't know at when he moved to sit next to me but I was glad. Against my better judgement I found myself throwing my arms around Ellis and crying my eyes out. I had carried the guilt of that day for so long, being a murderer at only fourteen years old.
It felt good to finally tell someone, a weight lifting off my shoulders would be an understatement but it was the only way to describe how I was feeling.
"That girl you met, judging by what you told me- was probably a Druid, and she was right you are very valuable but equally as dangerous," Ellis sighed as he leaned me back, violet eyes dark with worry."Some vampires, usually turned ones suffer from a hex which operates more like a virus. It makes them crazed and cannibalistic, ultimately leading to death. Consuming Druid blood controls the effects but the heart of one is said to cure it. Thing is, Druid corpses are very valuable and can be used for dark rituals so it makes sense as to why she needed to get it away from there."
Silence lingered over us once again before he opened his mouth. "I guess you'll be meeting Varda earlier than planned," my brows knitted together, "who's Varda?"
"Your uncle."
I did a double take. Uncle?
"There's a ball coming up in Rome a few weeks from now, it's not a good place to meet him because of all the supernatural creatures that will be in attendance but it's the only place where he can go that the council won't suspect," Ellis said while staring up at the ceiling. Council? How important was this guy?
I asked him why this 'Varda' had to be careful with his movements but the only thing I got out of him was that it would raise a lot of eyebrows if someone of his position made a casual trip to earth; that, and the fact that nobody except the two of them plus some else knew about me. I didn't argue, the prospect of me meeting one of my family members was all I could think about. So much so that I completely ignored the ball and whatever else he had talked about.

"How women can walk in dresses like this without falling flat on their face is beyond me," I voiced my displeasure in one last attempt to get out of this whole thing.
"You have no aristocratic training so it's normal you would feel that way," Ellis bit back without even looking away from his wife.
"Oh, you wound me."
He ignored me and kept openly staring at his mate. We had arrived in Rome a week ago and to say they were overjoyed to be reunited was an understatement. The walls could attest to that; I inwardly cringed at the memory of it. Who knew stoned faced Ellis was a big softie? Meliana- his mate tried her best to ignore his heated gaze but the constant blush on her cheeks did little to hide the fact that she was acutely aware of his roaming eyes.
Mates.
Someone who was literally made for you, the other half of your soul. It was the one person who mattered most to someone, so much so that some people even took their own lives because their mate died.It was a love that consumed you, a love so passionate that for some it stayed intact throughout lifetimes. It was different from humans, they didn't typically have soulmates but those who did were really lucky. I found myself wanting a love like that but I didn't want to keep my hopes up cause I technically wasn't a living being and so there was a good chance that the connection might have been severed when I died; although there could be exceptions, I tried my best not to let it consume me.
"Turn around Ross," Meliana said and went I did, for a moment I was sure the girl staring at me was a completely different person. The dress had a white lace top half with golden leaves of various sizes adorning my chest and a slighting plunging V neck. From the waist down it was made of light chiffon which left little to the imagination, but thankfully it had a short inner skirt that covered me just enough. Needless to say, I looked like a fairytale princess.
