Lucellion pov
I had barely gotten a taste of her when she shoved me enough to send me flying. "You've gotten a lot stronger since the last time we were together Ross," I said getting up and dusting myself.
"Come near me again and I'll show you how strong I am." Her voice was hard but her eyes, they swirled with mixed emotions. I took a step toward her but Ares moved in front of her in a protective manner, I felt a spark of jealousy. What was going on? "I think it's best we resolve this...issue later," Thanatos broke the awkward silence. Ross looked at me one last time before she turned away and left, her soldiers tailing her along with the twins.
A heavy sigh escaped my lips, "what?"
"Nothing; I'm just starting to see what Hypnos meant," Ares replied, his voice tight. Now I was really beginning to wonder what his problem was. "Edward get to work, you have a lot to do."
I had spent the whole day with Edward and it was by no means of my own free will. Every time I tried to talk to Rossiya the three stooges would prevent me from even getting a glimpse of her. Of course I deserved her cold shoulder, perhaps even worse but it was still killing me. Edward did however get some information out of Thanatos though and it only made me feel like more of an asshole.
After I left, she threw herself into training and became closed off. She never really admitted to me being the cause of her change but everyone knew. I asked him about her relationship with the war god but there wasn't much to go by, only that there seemed to be tension between them. I could only hope it wasn't sexual.
Night came and Larimar palace now looked fit for a queen. After dinner everyone had retired to their rooms; I went to Ross' room but she wasn't there and so found myself wandering the palace in search of her.
In the end I found her standing in front of the lake that separated this palace from the castle. She looked ethereal under the moonlight, like something out of a dream. I felt the pull between us buzzing with a new vigor, urging me to go to her.
"Might as well say something rather than ogle me like some fan girl Lucellion." Her voice was cold but I could hear the erratic beating of her heart and that was enough for me to finally relax. Making my way to her, that scent I had almost forgotten was still as maddening as ever.
"I'm sorry Ross; believe me when I say I never wanted to leave, especially not like that. I just..." words failed me as my voice became raw with emotion. I buckled under my own weight, "I left in a hurry because I couldn't understand the extent of what was going on between us. We shouldn't have been so drawn to each other because you already have a mate and so I took it upon myself to visit sorcerer after sorcerer and witch after witch to explain it to me but they couldn't."
"So I started looking through records and only the moirai could give me the answers I needed but I haven't been able to find them. However; even without their confirmation it still doesn't change the fact that I know you're my mate too."
She drew a sharp intake of breath and I finally looked up at her, shock was written all over her face. "That's...not possible."
"I know, it shouldn't be but it's the only explanation as to why you feel the same way about me that you do for hades and why we have this pull between us. Rossiya I don't know how it's possible but I do know that you're my other half and I'm not going to let you go."
Before I knew it she had thrown her arms around me and was hanging on for dear life, "I missed you so much Luc...I thought I had done something terribly wrong," her tears soaked my shirt and my heart clenched painfully. "I'm sorry sunshine, I won't ever leave you, I promise."
We stayed liked that for a while, in a comfortable silence; eventually she fell asleep. I carried her all the way to her room where Ares standing guard like a loyal dog. This guy was really pissing me off but I was in too good a mood to say or do much. He had taken care of her when I didn't so to some extent I had to be grateful. However I couldn't ignore one thing, the way his gaze clung to her with something I knew all too well.
After I laid her down, he was still hovering by her door but why?
"Do you do this every night?" I asked and he just eyed me up and down before glancing at her sleeping form. "Sometimes Rossiya has night terrors, very intense ones and she won't tell us what they are. So sometimes she's stuck in a trance and attacks anyone and everything in sight so we take turns."
I wanted to tell him that there was no need to do that and that I would take care of her but something stopped me.
