"I still think you need to let me talk to him, just give me five minutes." I looked at the mirror, making eye contact with Ellis because if I turned my head one more time Meliana would smack me. "Your definition of 'talk to him' is assault and even if you can take Hades in a fight he's childish enough to make this a diplomatic incident."

He rolled his eyes, clearly not happy with my decision; "anyways moving along, how long until you tell Hades the truth about Ares and Lucellion?" I let out a sigh, I couldn't answer that question because although we might be married and I know he hates his brother's guts, I can't put it past him to not do something unhinged. That and I still didn't understand the dynamic of this whole thing, the only thing I was sure about were my feelings for them, Hades included.

"If perhaps the time comes when we're not going at each other's throats, then I might tell him the reality of our situation but until then we're all better off staying as is." Mel and Ellis exchanged a look I didn't bother to read too much into. Although I looked calm outside looking in, the truth was that I was a bundle of nerves.

Today I would consummate my marriage with Hades, I never gave much thought to what my first time would be like but doing it with someone else hi literally can't stand the sight of me wasn't it. I considered letting Luc and Ares popping my Cherry several times over because of the fear of it but ultimately decided against it. Maybe the fact that I felt the bond strongest with him is what stopped me. As if that wasn't enough, after today I would be linked to the underworld itself and its people, and that meant there would literally be no way out.

No matter how I looked at it; I was screwed, all because he couldn't pick up what he was putting down. The only positive side of this was that with the completion of our marriage I would have real, tangible political authority and the first thing I was going to do was put my husband on a leash. I hold my grudges with both hands, and I would never let what he did to me go without doing something about it.

A few more touches and Mel was done with me, I couldn't understand how she made me look even more beautiful than last time.

The dress seemed like something out of a fairytale world. It was a silver gown, the same color as his hair; with a long slit on one side that left little to the imagination. A million and one tiny crystals and diamonds were woven into it such that when ever I move it was like dozens of shooting stars. The sweetheart neckline and long train just added more to its beauty. This time, my hair was let down and  adorned with midnight blue crystals, the same as his eyes. Mel had really outdone herself this time and if she could make me look like this everyday then I had no problem stealing her from Ellis.

The moon hung low in the sky, meaning it was time to get this show on the road.

"There's still time to runaway you know, we could ditch this circus and take you back home. You being married to him is enough, you don't have to live here and if anyone says otherwise I'll kill them," Varda said but there was a worried tone in his voice and if not for everything at stake as well as the bond that kept me tethered to him I would've more than considered being a runaway bride.

"I'm fine I promise, plus Luc and Ares are here with me along with the others. But I'll take your advice and show everyone here that fae royals do not take kindly to disrespect." That seemed to convince him enough for the time being, I hadn't told him that mum was alive and trapped here though; that was a story for another time. Taking in a deep breath, I nodded at the announcer who pushed the doors open.  No turning back now.

The moment my name was called, everyone stood up and turned to me. There were different expressions ranging from contempt to bewilderment and awe but the only one I paid attention to was him. I saw a flicker of an emotion that was gone before I could tell what it was. His cold eyes were locked on me and everything around us faded out of existence. It was just like the first time.

He looked delicious in his golden robes and I couldn't help but wonder if it was custom here to dress according to your partner's physical appearance. It was also the first time I had seen him wearing his crown. As I got closer to him, the smell of him made the blood sing in my veins, but there was something else being masked by it. I cursed myself and the bond for making me so attracted to him even after all he's done. Hades was a beautiful man, and the thought of kissing him again and then some made liquid heat slide out of me. By this time we were standing face to face; I could see his nostrils flare and the muscle in his jaw tick. One would think that he was trying to restrain himself as best he could.

With a lengthy speech from a council member about doing my duty and putting the people of the realm above all else, a crown was handed to Hades. It had intricate designs with golden beryl and rubies  in its design. I bowed my head and got on my knees, swearing my loyalty as queen. Hades gently placed the crown on my head and held out his hand to me. Sparks erupted at the point of contact, spreading across my whole body before rushing south.

Another council member presented me with a golden platter that had that dreaded fruit on it. I swallowed hard, thinking about how painful this could and would be. Hades must've sensed my worry because he gave my hand a reassuring squeeze while taking the fruit in the other and holding it up to my mouth. There was something intimate about the small gesture and my nerves subsided.

I took a bite out of it and it didn't taste as bad as I had imagined. He continued feeding me until I had eaten all of it; then he kissed me again, swiping his tongue over my lips. The entire hall erupted into applause as I felt like an endless number of threads tethered themselves to me. The best thing however was how I could feel the underworld become a part of me and vice versa.

"Congratulations queen," that voice said again and I couldn't help but smile.
