When Emery's parents passed when she was 10, Claudia's family took Emery in. Claudia moved to LA when she turned 18 and Emery was 13, still residing in Chicago with her family. Claudia hasn't seen Emery since she turned 17, so in the book you will see them reuniting while Emery is now 19. The rest of the characters will be introduced. (P.S.
