Emery's POV
claudia and i sat in the backyard tanning along the side of the pool. i didn't realize until now that this was one of the only days claudia and i had one on one time.

and with that we talked for hours about all the drama in chicago. "i can't believe your flight is already tomorrow night,"

"i know, i feel like i just got here," i groaned, "speaking of there's something i'd like your opinion on."

"okay."

"so aside from coming to visit you, i also came to la kind of as a trial run. i need a change from chicago and i think la does that for me. i was planning on applying to UC Berkeley."

"em i fully support you and your decision, but this is a really really big decision, especially because of how good your current school is. so i just want to make sure this is what you want."

"it is," i confirmed.

"okay, have you told anyone else yet?"

"not yet, i kinda finalized the decision not too long ago."

"it's so weird seeing you make all these big decisions in life, why can't we be teeny again," claudia laughed.

"i'll take a shot for that," i said and claudia glared at me, " a shot of water of course."

claudia just shook her head and laughed.

Billie's POV
when finn and i wrapped up our session i sprawled out on the couch, tossing a stress ball in the air.

"i'm gonna tell you something, but you have to swear you won't judge or tell anyone," i explained to my brother.

"you know i won't bil," he said playfully rolling his eyes.

"you know how i've been hanging out with em this week?"

"yea," finn replied.

"i think i really like her finn and it's kinda crazy because we just met and she's leaving already," i rambled.

"so i'm assuming you haven't told her?"

"no," i said.

"do you think she feels the same way?"

"i mean we kissed but i don't know, i don't wanna jump to conclusions. she's like the opposite of anyone i've been interested in."

"opposite in a good way?"

"i think so, it's refreshing to be around someone so calm and who goes with the flow."

"then i think you should tell her how you feel."

"alright, thanks finn."

"no problem, don't forget we have the dinner tonight with mom and dad," he told me.

i gave a thumbs up before walking out the studio.

a couple hours later my parents and i sat at our table awaiting the arrival of claudia, emery, and finneas. i have to say this dinner was a bit fancier than i expected.

moments later my brother walked with a tux, with claudia and emery in dresses following him.

emery in particular, caught my eyes. she wore an emerald dress with a slit and corset like top, which highlighted her golden brown skin.
(dress is similar to this with less glitter and lower slit. and my version of emery is black.)

my eyes eventually caught up to her and she mouthed hi. i did the same in return before she greeted my parents.

"hi, i'm emery," she told my parents before giving them a hug.

she made her way to me, "hi bil," she said before kissing my cheek.

i pulled out the chair beside me for her to sit.

"thank you," she smiled.

later that night, everyone was in their own conversations.

"do you wanna get outta here?

"where to?" she asked.

"it's a surprise but you'll like it, come on" i said as i held out my hand for her to grab.

after excusing ourselves we made our way to my car.

before we got out the car, i turned to em, "before we go you gotta put this on," i said handing her a blindfold.

"okay but if you let me fall we might have to fight," she teased.

i got out the car and went over to the passenger side to help emery out the car.

once we got to the door of the surprise i stopped before opening it, "you look amazing tonight, by the way."

"thank you, you clean up real nice too," she said as we stepped inside.

"okay you can take off the blindfold." i said as i stepped back and turned on the lights, revealing a museum full of famous paintings of all sorts.

"i know i haven't seen exactly your style of art, but i saw your sketch of a landscape the other day and thought you might enjoy this," i said, holding the back of my neck with one hand.

"bil it's gorgeous omg, thank you so much, this was so thoughtful of you," emery said with a grateful smile.

she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me into her warm embrace.

as we went around the room of paintings, i don't think there was an artist she didn't know. almost every painting we stopped at she could tell the stroke  techniques used, i'd never seen her so excited and talkative all week.

she went around taking  pictures in awe and enlightening me about the history of each painting.

at this moment there was no place i'd rather be.

"thank you again, i really enjoyed doing this...with you," emery said as we stood in front of the museum door.

"it's no problem at all em. there's actually something i wanted to tell you before we head out," i said in a lower tone, "i know you're going tomorrow night, but i really enjoy your company emery, and i really like you."
