Emery's POV
i wish i could tell you billie and i stayed in touch i mean we did to the world at least, those standards being following each other on instagram. but nothing like we once were, i honestly couldn't tell you our last real conversation since i left for london 3 years ago.

a part of me feels guilty about us drifting, but the other part feels like letting each other go was the right thing to do as we continued on our different paths.

i think i needed to go through this part of life alone, to rely on myself more than others, though my bad vision makes that a little difficult, but i manage.

for example it was interesting navigating the airport alone today but i managed and i'm honestly just so excited to be back in la and see claudia, it's been far too long.

later that day...

by the time my flight landed in LA it was pretty late out though i thought it'd be better to fight the jet lag than use caffeine and worsen it.

after getting assistance from a worker to find my luggage, all that was left was to find claudia's car in the pickup lane.

"you're finally here," a familiar voice squealed as she wrapped me in a hug.

it was much needed. though i never told claudia that, i never wanted her to worry about me so i just enjoyed the embrace of my family in peace.

"alright let's get you home, i'm sure that long flight was tiring."

"it sure was," i laughed.

"oh before i forget, i meant to tell you billie will be at the get together this weekend, is that cool?"

"yea of course, why wouldn't it be," i scratched my neck.

"i don't know, just don't know what terms y'all are on."

"i don't really know either," i muttered.

the rest of the car ride claudia and i spent catching up on life and for a second my world felt a little less lonely.

later that night...

as soon as i stepped foot in the door, peaches wasted no time in greeting me with many kisses.

"hi sweet girl," i said as i knelt down to pet her.

"you made it!" finneas said as we shared a hug.

"i did, it's been too long man," i replied softly punching him in the arm.

"let me get that for you," he said as he took my bags to the guest room.

"thanks finn."

the next morning...

"shit," i groaned as i stubbed my toe whilst trying to find my way around the house.

"here, let me help you," a soft voice said as their hands guided me to a seat.

the soft voice and smell of warm vanilla let me know right away they were billie.

"thank you," i smiled.

"of course, uh i gotta get back to recording but i'll see you around later?" she asked.

"yea i'll be around."

"great." billie responded as she left the room.

Billie's POV

"billie?" finneas called, as his hand waved in front of my face.

"huh? yea" i responded.

"dude are you good?"

"yea, just a little tired," i said.

"alright, we got enough for today." finneas replied.

as i came up from the basement, my eyes scanned the room for emery.

"if you're looking for who i think you are, she went to the supermarket with claudia." my mom answered from the kitchen.

i nodded my head and sunk into the couch.

"you know i thought i was over her, mom. then, i saw her today and it was like nothing ever changed."

"if it means anything, i never believed you two would leave things as abrupt as they were," she replied with a kiss atop my head.

i guess she was right.
