ch.21 coming to visit

Tessa(POV)
I woke up to the sound of my alarm that I had just fixed. Hopefully no more waking up late. Anyways, it was finally Friday. The week had gone by so slow, except for hanging out with Grayson yesterday. That was amazing! I found out he likes me and I may or may not have told him I liked him back. And on top of all that, we almost kissed, like on the lips!! Part of me was screaming on the inside and the other half was telling me this was a bad thing. What if he found out who I really was? What would he do if he did? Would he leak my secret...or could I trust him?

I got out of bed and decided to take a shower. I put on my faded skinny jeans, a gray American Eagle sweatshirt, and my turquoise Vans. After straightening my hair and putting it in a high ponytail, I walked into Hadley's bright pink room to get her ready for the day. I found her laying on the ground, half-asleep. Laughing, I picked her up off the ground.
"Come on Hadley, it's time to get ready for school. Mom asked me to help you get ready, so what do you want to wear today?" I asked, opening up her closet. She sat up and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She walked over to the closet and pointed to a black shirt that had little ladybugs on it. I took it off the hanger and put it on her bed for her along with some jeans I found in her drawers. She changed into her outfit and walked into the bathroom. After making sure she brushed her teeth, I did her hair into a small side French braid that went into a ponytail. She complained the whole time that I was pulling her hair too tight.

I had finally finished getting her ready and walked down stairs to get breakfast.

Turning the kitchen corner , I saw that my mom had made pancakes for breakfast. After eating, I grabbed my bag, and Nick and I got in the car and drove to school.

I made my way to my locker, only to find Grayson leaning against it, smiling at me as I walked towards him.
"Why hello there." I said once I had reached my locker, starting to enter my combination.
"Hi!" Grayson said cheerily.
"Well someone's in a good mood." I laughed.
"Yep. Because last night was amazing and I finally got the guts to tell you how I feel." Grayson replied with a cute smirk.
I smiled in return, recalling last night's memories. Meghan totally freaked out when I told her, after she had begged me to tell her what happened. Again, I had that some annoying nag in the back of my head...'keep your distance'. It's almost like it was a sign that something's up, but I tried to ignore it. I guess the past 9 months of shutting people out made me used to it or something.
Grayson and I walked to AP English together after we had finished talking.

*after school*

This day went by so fast! I was already on my way back to my house with Grayson. Nick had soccer practice, so Grayson told me he would drive me home. We had to work on a project together anyways, so we probably would just end up doing that.

"CAUSE YOU'RE TOO SEXY BEAUTIFUL AND EVERYBODY WANTS A TASTE THATS WHY. I STILL GET JEALOUS." We shouted along to the loud music that was blasting out of the car. We pulled into my driveway and Grayson got out and came around to my door.
"M'lady." he said in an awful British accent, while opening the door for me.
"Why thank you, sir." I replied laughing.
We walked up the front steps of my house and I unlocked the door with my key.
"Hey mom, I'm ho-." I froze, not bothering to finish my sentence. There sitting on my couch, in the middle of my living room, was Jamie and Shawn. Yes as in Shawn Mendes.
"Tessa! I missed you so much!" Shawn said, as he walked up to hug me. I stiffened up. This can't be happening. Not right now! Grayson had a confused look on his face. Great.
"Hi Shawn. It's good to see you! Will you please excuse me for one sec?" I asked as he released me from the hug.
"Sure," he shrugged.
I raced upstairs to my room, where I was going to attempt to calm myself down. I sat on my bed, breathing heavily, when Grayson walked into my room. I put my head in my hands, not wanting to see his face.

Grayson(POV)
Ok this is weird. I come over to Tessa's house to work on a project, just to see the one and only Shawn Mendes sitting on her couch, talking to her mom and some other lady who looked to be about 25. Shawn said hi and came over and hugged her. Tessa asked if she could be excused and then ran upstairs. I followed her into what I guessed to be her bedroom. I had never been in her room before. It was nice and pretty big. The walls were a light turquoise color. She had a big bed in the corner, against the wall, a dresser with a mirror above it, a big desk in the other corner, and pictures all over the walls. Under one of the windows, sitting next to her bed, was an acoustic guitar. Hmmm, I never knew she played the guitar...

She looked upset, which made me upset. What was wrong? She hid her face in her hands as she sat criss-cross on her bed. I sat down next to her, wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close to me.
"What's the matter?" I whispered softly, my lips brushing past her ear.
"Um, nothing, I just needed a break." she mumbled, her face still hidden by her hands.
"From what?" I said again, still trying to be quiet.
"It's complicated." she replied. I pried her hands off her face and tilted her chin up so she could look me in the eye.
"Well, are you ok?" I said, looking straight in her hazel eyes.
"I don't know. Yeah I guess." she replied looking away.
"Well ok." I said unsure. I wrapped my other arm around her in a tight hug. She seemed to relax in my arms as I felt her shoulders sag. She wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her head into my shoulder.

"So... why is Shawn Mendes in your living room?" I decided to ask.
"Um, he's a family friend." she replied after a few minutes.
"We met him when we lived back in California, you know, before he got famous..." she added.
Oh, well that kinda made sense.
"And who was that lady?"
"She works with my mom. She comes over sometimes, but her office is in New York so not that often." Tessa said quickly.

We were still hugging. I'm not complaining though, I could do this all the time. She pulled away from the hug.
"We should probably go back downstairs." she said.
"Ok." I replied. I stood up and held out my hands. She grabbed them and I pulled her up off the bed. Still holding one of my hands, she led me back downstairs.

Tessa(POV)
Oh my gosh that was a close one! Almost all of the things I said in there were lies. Well, it was true that Shawn was a family friend, and I had met him in California, but not for the reasons Grayson thinks. And Jamie doesn't work for my mom. I just wish I could tell him everything. How my family has had trouble for the past year, moving three times because of me. How I was known all over the country but not so much up here. How I perform at concerts and show up at meet and greets. How people used my family for money and fame. How people pretended to be my friend only to reveal my secret and tear me down. But most importantly, how he has impacted my life and how I'm falling for him... hard!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the reads. Chapter 22 will be out shortly, hopefully. Now I want you guys to know that next week, we have exams starting and they won't be done till Tuesday the 26th, so if we aren't posting much in between now and then, don't worry! It may be hard to update during our tests so just know that we will eventually update just not until it's over or sometime on the weekend.
