ch.33 "come with me"

Grayson (POV)

I'm so excited. You want to know why? Tessa is coming back tonight and I have something quite special planned.

"What are you smiling about?" Ethan says, walking into my room. "It's kinda creepy, dude."
I turned around and gave him a smirk.

"Because........" I replied, slowly closing the door behind him.

Tessa (POV)

Ugh. I'm so exhausted. As much fun as New York was, it all has to come to an end. And since it has, I'm freakin stuck in my room unpacking my bags! I'm still really worried about what Abbey said yesterday. If she tells everyone....who knows what will happen. But in my mind, I knew exactly what would.

I smelt food coming from downstairs. Not only was I exhausted, but absolutely famished. I looked at the clock and noticed I had taken two hours to unpack with all the distractions. It was now 7:30 and I could hear my mom calling me from downstairs.

"Wow. Mom, this mac n' cheese is great!" Nick exclaimed from across the table, while shoveling the noodles into his mouth.

"Thanks. Hadley helped me." my mom said, while smiling at Hadley. Hadley shot her head up with wide eyes and an eager grin, nodding her head furiously.

We all went back to eating in silence, until my dad spoke up.

"Tess, we all enjoyed your performance yesterday. We're so proud of you!"

I chose not to mention what went on with Abbey, knowing it would only worry them and gave a small "thanks".

*after dinner*

I went back into my room figuring I had homework to finish. I sat down at my desk with a giant sigh. Just as I was about to open my calculus book, I heard something at my window. Thinking it was just a tree branch or something, I ignored it. But then I heard it again....and again.

"What the hell is that?" I said aloud. I raced across my room and looked out the window. To my surprise, Grayson was standing there on my balcony. I quickly unlatched the door, stepping only a little bit into the breezy air.

"What are you doing here? Are you crazy?" I laughed as he walked closer to me.

"I wanted to see you and couldn't wait till tomorrow." he answered, now towering above me. I looked up at him, able to clearly see all of his amazing features. He took my hand and intertwined our fingers.

"Come with me," he whispered, pulling me away from the doorway.

"I cant." I simply stated.

"Why not?" he asked with an adorable childish pouty face.

"Because........"

We were now walking on a dark pathway. Despite all the reasons I needed to stay, Grayson wouldn't let me. Everything I said, he would just ignore. He wouldn't even tell me where we were going. Grayson held my hand the whole way, occassionally looking back at me and giving me a goofy smile. We had been walking for a couple minutes after leaving the car once we had stopped in front of this wooded hill.

"It's not too much farther." He said so quiet it was almost like he was talking to himself. I replied with a small chuckle, shaking my head. Grayson moved back some bushes and before us was a gigantic meadow filled with tall grasses and wild flowers. The moon shown down making the grass shine. In the middle of the field sat a plaid blanket with a few lanterns.

"Grayson, did you do this?" I asked completely taken away.

"Yeah, kinda." He smiled sheepishly at the ground. "Do you like it?"

"Are you kidding? This is incredible!" I proclaimed. "Why did you do this?"

"I don't know. Tonight's just..... special, I guess." He winked.

Gray lead me over to the little blanket and plopped down onto it. I sat down beside him and rested my head on his shoulder. I tilted my gaze up to the sky. The view from here was astounding. You could see all the stars. I glanced over at Grayson and he was doing the same, enjoying the peace and taking in the scenery. He caught my gaze and smirked at
me, causing me to look away and blush. He placed a hand under my chin and moved my head back to where it was, looking deep into my eyes.

"You look really pretty." He whispered.

"Gray, I'm literally wearing sport shorts and a tank top." I giggled.

"So. You still look perfect to me." He whispered again, leaning in closer.

"Why are you whispering?" I chuckled, whispering as well.

"Because........"

For a while we just sat, listening to the grass swaying in the breeze and the crickets chirping. It was silent, a comfortable silence though.

"Tessa?" Grayson spoke up.

"Hmm?" I replied.

"Can I say something?" He asked in a nervous tone, which made me pay more attention.

"Well sure." I replied.

"Ok. Here I go." He let out a shaky breathe. "We've known each other for five months now and those have been an incredible five months. I've gotten to know you and I want to be able to know you even better. I know I really like you and I'm pretty sure you like me too. So, I was just wondering if you would like to be my, um, my girlfriend?" He mumbled, looking me straight in the eye.

A million thoughts were racing through my head. I can't believe this is happening. I instantly replied without evening thinking.

"Of course I will!" I exclaimed.

Grayson's head shot up and an enormous smile spread across his face. He tackled me into a warm hug, pushing me down. His eyes met mine and our lips finally collided. They were moving in slow sync until Grayson pulled away. He continued to hover over me as he leaned down planting a couple soft kisses on my forehead. He continued to leave kisses all over my face. My nose, my cheeks, and lastly my lips. I smiled up at him and he pulled me into him once again. While he nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck, my thoughts came back. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. I had heard rumors of what Abbey did to people who got close to Grayson. How would she react to Grayson and I dating? Especially now that she knew my secret. But you know what? I can't let her control my life. I can't keep living in this fear. I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself and I won't let a person like Abbey get in my way of dating who I want. So to hell with all her crap. Right now all I should be focused on is Grayson.

"I'm really glad you made me come with you." I quietly said in his ear.
