"smash," sapnap jokes, speaking quietly so that the teacher at the front wouldn't pick him out over the low murmur in the room.

dream turns to sapnap with a small glare. the ravenette had been watching him scrolling through instagram, his phone hidden below the table.

"dude, what the fuck?" dream whispers back, a grimace on his face, yet his tone light-hearted. "it's literally a guy," he says, angling his phone for sapnap to see better. "you're so weird."

sapnap holds his hands up just slightly in defence. "i was just kidding," he points out. "you're the guy with topless men on his instagram feed."

"it's a clothing ad, genius," dream mumbles, playfully rolling his eyes before looking back down at his phone and scrolling away from the picture. "you're so gay."

"gay for pussy," sapnap reports, earning a snort from his friend. dream clearly loses interest in the conversation after that, not bothering to bicker back and remaining silent as his focus returns to his phone. sapnap leaves a few seconds of silence so the conversation can officially end before asking, "do you guys wanna go to the pizzeria after school?"

george, who had been previously scribbling in his book, looks past dream to sapnap with a shrug. "we're having a family dinner tonight," he says. "i can come but just not eat."

dream also shrugs, gaze still locked on his instagram. "sure thing."

"cool!" sapnap chirps, rocking his chair back just far enough that it wouldn't fall. he looks over at the window to occupy himself, squinting when the sun shines right back at him. "it's too hot," he complains, suddenly feeling stuffy in his thin sweatshirt.

"we're in florida man, what do you expect?" dream says, not even sparing sapnap a glance as he replies to a friend's story.

sapnap humphs a little, looking down as he drags his feet along the carpeted floor, kicking about an abandoned eraser. "still," he mumbles, "the weather is being a little rude."

"let's play a game called 'how long can sapnap go without complaining?' " george says, flashing sapnap a side eye, but not really being malicious.

"that's so stupid," sapnap insults, rolling his eyes at his friend.

"ohp! he already lost!" dream teases, switching his phone off and pushing it into his jean pocket before looking at sapnap with an annoying smirk.

"oh, shut up," sapnap scolds, hitting his friend's arm. he is about to word a retort before being abruptly cut off by the bell ringing loudly through the building. he settles with just rolling his eyes at the pair as they all begin to pack up their things.

dream is the first of their group to stand, since he had the least equipment out, and sapnap follows just a few seconds after.
