"text me if you need anything!" dream calls as george crosses over the road towards his house, offering the brit a brief wave.

"will do!" he calls back and, although dream knows it isn't true, he's still happy that the other boy agreed.

dream turns, locking his car and making his way up the driveway towards his house.

he hears george's front door shut just as he watches his own push open, his mother stepping out. she looks over at him, smiling warmly, "hi dream."

"hi mom," he responds, "how was work?"

"it was fine," the brunette answers a little dismissively. "anyway, i'm going out to get my hair cut and your dad is still at work," she says, passing by him and pressing the button to unlock her car.

"alright, have fun," he calls out.

"thanks, you too," she shouts back as she pulls open the car door. "and stay out of punz's way, please!"

dream holds back the sigh that builds up in his chest, pushing it aside as he replies, "i will!" before waving her off and heading into the house.

he pushes off his shoes and drops his bag by the door, making his way through to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water. he takes a few sips whilst still standing at the sink, thinking to himself.

he and sapnap are calling to do some english project together and, although they're supposed to be doing school work, it's obvious that they'll talk about some other stuff too.

dream's mom had said to stay out of punz's way, so he figures that means punz is surely home, and he doesn't exactly want his brother to hear him and sapnap talking, so he'll have to put his headphones on.

dream doesn't want punz to overhear anything and make any assumptions. he doesn't ever intend to come out to his brother, and he doesn't want it to happen accidentally either.

water still in hand, dream leaves the kitchen and heads across to the lounge, where he knows he left his headphones on charge.

the closer he gets, the more he is made aware of the low hum of the tv, and he makes sure not to look over at where punz is lounging on the couch as he crosses the room.

ignoring his brother's presence, dream unplugs his headphones, hanging them over his arm and grabbing the charger with the hand that wasn't holding his water.

dream turns back to leave the room.

right as he passes, punz stands up from the couch, and dream unintentionally collides into his side, sending the younger boy stumbling back a few steps, his water splashing down his front as he drops the glass.

the glass hits the floor safely. drop softened by the carpet below them. though, when dream looks down at himself, he first notices the water down his shirt before his gaze lands on his headphones and charger- both soaked.
