𝐈. character notes

before every book i write character profiles of all of their backstories etc. they are basically just mini prologues that directly address the character's traumas and stuff, so i thought i would share them with you:

ˑ༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ dream and family

dream's parents are phil and kristin. phil works as a university lecturer in physics and kristin is a secretary in an office. his brother is punz, who is one year older.

punz suffers from depression, anxiety, and anorexia. he's also had issues with drug addiction, and these things combined led to him sending time in both a psychiatric hospital and a rehabilitation centre.

punz's family always tell people that he spent time at a boarding school for the sake of the blonde's privacy.

dream and punz do not get along well. they argue constantly, and whilst neither know what it is particularly that triggered the demise of their brotherhood, it has something to do with punz's previous issues and how they were handled.

dream's parents have always been more focused on punz, because his needs are more demanding than dreams, considering his dark past. they never intended to make dream feel invisible, and they love him dearly, but it's difficult to treat your sons evenly when one of them requires so much more emotional support- or, at least, seems as though they do.

dream's relationship with his parents is also rough, simply because of the fact that he has felt neglected by them for such a large portion of his life. still, he loves them endlessly, much like he does punz.

dream suffers from severe anxiety, mostly surrounding social and health situations, but just generally too.

since growing up with punz, and seeing the extremity of his brother's conditions, dream figured his must just be normal nerves, because he didn't seem to be struggling as much as the older boy.

dream is constantly fidgeting and fiddling with things to calm his nerves, though he is unaware of the fact that he does this.

punz, however, is very much aware of dream's behaviour. he himself has anxiety, so it was easy for him to identify the same behaviour in his little brother. because of this, punz was able to work out that dream has anxiety before he could work it out himself.

despite this, punz doesn't tell anyone, rather keeping the information to himself.

dream's parents are completely unaware of his anxiety.

dream has internalised homophobia and has grown up under the impression that he can't be gay- this is likely from the constant teasing from his older brother.

dream always tries to excuse himself with the fact that he would never want to fuck another guy, so he can't be gay, but really he is just a BOTTOM.

ˑ༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹sapnap and family

sapnap has gay dads: bad and skeppy. bad owns a real estate agency and skeppy does work for him occasionally. they're rich, basically.

bad's sister, puffy (sapnap's aunt) has cancer at the start of the book, but has been cleared by the end.
