The couple walked to Jimin's parent's hut hours later, having been invited by them for dinner. Jimin had calmed down from his earlier outburst long ago already but a million of questions were burning on the tip of his tongue and as they entered the hut, joining Jimin's mother in the living room and sitting down with her, He couldn't help himself from asking. "Mom...?"
His mother looked at him immediately, humming at him to speak. "You know this whole story about Jungkookie...where did you first hear about it? Do you remember?"
The woman sighed and hummed in thought at the question. Jungkook squeezed Jimin's hand that was laying in his from earlier. "In all truth, I think the first person I've heard it from was Kim Yejun, the wife of one of your dad's hunting partners. We were somewhat close back then, and I'd just had you. I think I remember her saying that it was something she heard from another hunter, whose wife had been "heavily injured" by this wolf...well...Jungkook, I suppose. It's true that now that I bring it up, this story's origin is entirely more mysterious than what I'd believed. I find myself immature for believing in it so easily, but it then became such a huge thing that...I never took a step back to doubt of its veracity." She looked a bit guilty as she spoke and Jungkook could only understand her. He didn't blame her for not considering the rumors more at this time, she had a child and simply tried her best to protect him.
The two boys nodded attentively at what she was saying. Jimin was quick to ask again afterwards. "Are you not close to Kim Yejun anymore?" His mother sighed softly as she shook her head. "We were already only occasional friends back then, we weren't truly very close to each other, but your father was friends with her husband and so we got to talk a lot. Now that her husband doesn't hunt with your father anymore, we don't really stick together much." Jimin nodded once more. "Do you still speak to her sometimes at least?" His mother looked at him questioningly as she answered. "We do still speak occasionally, but not much. Why? Speak your mind, son. Stop being so vague with your questions and tell me what you truly want." Jimin sighed.
His mother knew him far too well. "We want to find out who started the rumors about Jungkook, but we don't know where to start. What you're saying is really helping, but do you think you could like...maybe, try to get a bit more information on the subject for us? I could go see her myself, but I think the news about Jungkook are pretty much the talk of the town lately, and I fear that maybe she wouldn't want to speak to me..." The woman's lips tightened together in thoughts. She looked conflicted on how to answer. "Pup, this seems like a dangerous game to be playing. I presume the people who started all of this were Jungkook's parents, and if so, they were cruel enough to abandon a child in the woods and start the most horrifying rumor about this very same child. Don't you think if they were cruel enough to live in this lie they'd created for so many years, that could mean that they're cruel enough to do anything? I want you two safe, and the idea of you confronting these people scares me a lot." Jimin was just about to speak when Jungkook did it instead.
It was the first time he spoke since greeting the woman earlier on. "Thank you for worrying miss Park. I also believe that pushing this too far could be dangerous, but..." Jungkook got a bit emotional as he continued. "Although I'm the happiest I've ever been at the moment, with your beautiful son, and a new horde of kind people that are getting to know the true me and that support me, I've also never felt so betrayed in my life. Every day that goes by brings me a new reason to feel betrayed. These people, that threw me away like garbage, that started this useless rumor about me for who knows what reason, that burned numbers and letters carelessly under my feet, they're unknown to me. I don't have a simple idea of who has betrayed me. I've never seen my parents, and they're the reason for all of my misery. They live...or lived, in your village. In complete silence to their actions, they walk your streets, talk, laugh, enjoy life. And I...selfishly...I want to know what they look like, who they are and put a face on the image of who I can blame for not having been able to live for so long. I want to see the look on their face when I'll stand before them, tall and proud while holding my amazing mate's hand. I want to see the shock, the fear on their face when they understand that their lies have failed, that the time of their fake innocence is over, and that I am there, and loved by many more than they'd left me to be. I'm aware that this may be reckless behavior, but I can't help myself from wanting to know. Do you understand? I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm crying in front of you. I'm so sorry..." Jungkook started apologizing as he saw Jimin's mother herself tear up. Jimin ran his nose softly along the length of his neck and let out calming pheromones to calm down his conflicted Alpha. "I understand you Jungkook, son. I can't even begin to imagine what the pain you're going through feels like. I'll try to speak to Yejun for you if that's the least I can do. I wish you didn't have to feel like this...you're still so young and you've suffered more than any wolf I know. You can try to find the source of this unfairness, but please promise me to be careful, and please take care of my pup." Jungkook breathed in deeply as he listened. He felt so understood by this kind woman, and he knew he was lucky that she trusted him enough to take care of Jimin. "I promise. Any of them wouldn't live a day longer if I came to know they had anything planed against Jimin."
They were interrupted seconds later by a loud "I'm home!" coming from the entry. Jimin's dad had come back, and now would be the time to go eat all together. Jungkook relaxed in Jimin's embrace as the boy's mother got up and to the kitchen. He let go of the unwanted thoughts that troubled him since earlier, and instead, he focused on this precious moment, wanting it to last forever. He knew forever wasn't going to happen, but for now he liked to ignore that.
