Morning came in the village and the head Alpha sent out a team of his to Jeon Hyun-woo's hut, just like he had promised the night prior. The man had been bothered by the thought of this story all through the night. He'd remembered the expression on Jungkook's face. The Alpha had been rumoured to be ruthless and unreasonable, but the man had never seen such an expression in his life. Such sincerity, yet such trouble...he had looked far too disturbed, far too sad for what he was telling him to not be true.
And these kids, he'd known them for as long as they'd lived...they were the brightest young adults of their village, there was no doubt to it.
Only, the thought of such cruel actions taking place in his own village was hard to believe. This man that they accused, he was a sweet man, as the head Alpha had known him. It's true that the man was mysterious in a way, and that he wasn't often seen outside of his home, but he seriously couldn't imagine anyone could ever be vile or sick enough to do such horrid things. Nonetheless, he sent out his team, and waited for the result.
As soon as the sun rose in the sky, Jimin and Jungkook, who'd not given sleep a thought all night, got up silently and went to the river to wash their sleep deprived selves up. They hoped it would also wash away the dread of the night. Jungkook's eyes shone with care as he caressed his mate's skin softly in the water, taking comfort in the way the omega held him so close.
They walked to the village later, lost in thoughts, hand in hand. They knew that at this time, the head Alpha would probably have sent out people to take note of the situation. They didn't know how this would end, how Jungkook's father would react, if he would try to cover up, if he would simply admit, if...if...
They definitely didn't expect the option that was, in fact, the answer. Jeon Hyun-woo had passed away during the night. Silently, for no one to hear, the man passed away next to the long-passed body of Jungkook's mother. The team that was sent out in the early morning had constated of such, and confirmed to the head alpha pretty much everything that the young adults had affirmed about the man. The woman had very visibly been victim of murder. Her body was torn in numerous places and the scene had been too much for one or two men. It was clear that the decrepit body had been altered in malicious, twisted ways. The remains found in the man's kitchen told them everything they needed to know.
As soon as the team was done with their inspection, they secured the perimeter of the hut and went to brief the head Alpha. The man was stunned into silence for a couple of minutes. Some air of deep disgust floated around the room. He dismissed a few of the men, and charged the remaining of them of taking care of the bodies and the hut.
As soon as they were dismissed, an Alpha among the others took a different direction. His eyes were unfocused as he walked in the direction of the Park family's hut. He had been given the order to make Jeon Jungkook and Park Jimin aware of the events. The man was one who had followed Park Daehyun, not too long ago, in his quest to eliminate Jungkook. Now, as he walked towards the hut, he realized just how easily the village had been fooled by the words of a sick man. Just how easily he had agreed to the murder of an innocent man. He felt sicker even than he'd felt as he'd seen the poor Alpha's mother's molded remains. He knocked on the door three times, and it opened almost immediately.
It was Jungkook who answered the door. He had been on edge all this time and couldn't help himself from running to the door as soon as he heard the knocks from the other side. The man he saw on the other side of the door...he recognized. It was one of these men... his expression turned sour quickly as their eyes met, but the man seemed to not want him any harm this time. "Jeon Jungkook...I've been chosen to come and give you the new information on the events about your father. If the family doesn't mind, I will come in-" Jungkook was about to turn around to ask Jimin and his family if he had their permission to let the man enter, but he was interrupted. "But before that, the man grabbed his arm and let go immediately, not wanting to make him uncomfortable or feel threatened, I would like to apologize personally and formally for what I have done. Being sent on your case today...it made me realize how utterly...how very stupid we all were to blindly believe and trust the rumors about you for so many years. It made me realize how disgusting of a man I have been. It is my duty to protect our pack, but I so disgustingly almost lost us a precious pack member. I hope you will someday forgive the lot of us morrons...although the time you've spent suffering would easily give you no reason to do so." The man spoke in a soft voice. Jungkook could only see and hear sincerity in the man's words and eyes. He felt his heart tightening as he too, called him part of the pack, a man who was ready to kill him weeks ago...
