Seraphine knocked on the door of Y/N's place. "Hey! I can't believe it. We get to play in a band!" she gushed when he answered. Y/N tried to not groan. Seraphine slipped off her boots before they headed to the practice room. They heard Jinx and her bass from down the hall.
"Sooooo?"
"So what?" Y/N asked.
"What made you finally wanna play?" Seraphine wondered.
Y/N sighed and scratched his head. "Thank Jinx. It was all her," he said, opening the door. "Just signed up and decided to 'include me.'"
"Best inclusion ever!"
"You're goddamn right," Jinx said, tuning the last string on her blue colored Ibanez bass. Seraphine set down her case and pulled out her guitar: a white and gold Gibson Les Paul. The amps crackled to life as Seraphine plugged in and tuned the instrument. Y/N moved to his side of the room and sat down behind the kit.
"Okay. You both ready? Y/N, count us off." He clicked his sticks together with a:

And so they played it once. Then they played it again. And again. And again. After an hour practice, it still didn't feel right to Y/N. It's a Battle of the Bands. This felt too lax.
He stopped in the middle of the next attempt and said, "Wait. Hold on. This isn't it."
Both girls looked at him, curious about his comment. "What's wrong?" Seraphine asked.
"It just....I don't know, just doesn't feel right for the crowd."
Jinx shrugged and shook her head. "Nahhh. This is the right song," she stated.
Y/N set his sticks on the snare and said, "Jinx, you already dragged me into this. Don't I get at least some say?"
"Hey now, you two-" Seraphine tried to speak up.
"Again, you're welcome!"
That was it. "Okay, look!" Y/N shouted, "We do this, we get booed off the stage! It's bad enough you dragged-"
"Why do you think I chose this song, Y/N?"
"To try and tell me something?"
Jinx set her bass on the stand. "Well, you're right." She walked up to his set and said, "Look, I could say sorry 'bout bringing you into this, but, I'm not. This song is for you. This is your time to shine! Well, that and to try and win the bragging rights."
"Of course," Y/N said, rolling his eyes.
His friend sighed and rubbed hers with one hand. "Y/N, as your friend, it's about time you heard this. Ekko isn't saying it, Sera won't, so I will: stop the whining and excuses, get off your ass, and for once, take a fucking chance!" Jinx was stopped by the doorbell. "And there's the food. Be right back." She then left to answer the door.
