The karaoke bar was quite the place: set up like an actual stage, with a band to back up everyone who wanted to sing. Lighting was pretty good, but not fully professional. The crowd tonight was pretty packed. Luckily, being as popular as they were, K/DA was able to get a private table.
Y/N and the others looked around to find said private table. Akali sent him a text, saying they'd be at. There was a loud whistle from the center booth, Akali waving them over. Y/N and the others, including Seraphine, Jinx, and Ekko all made their way over. Hugs, high fives, and handshakes were exchanged all around.
Akali took her seat again. The others settled into the booth, some taking the menu set out. She scooted over and pecked Y/N on the cheek. "Well, well! Thought we'd have to start without you!" Akali shouted over the band playing. The current singer was belting out a soulful ballad.
"Now that we're here, let the party begin!" Ekko declared, ordering a round of shots for everyone.
Qiyana pulled a joint out of her purse and lit it. She took a long drag, then exhaled and said, "So, who's first to sing?" She looked over at Y/N. "How about you, Y/N?"
Y/N's eyes widened a bit at Qiyana's request. "M-Me? I don't know. After all, I just got here," he nervously chuckled.
Ekko chimed in with a sly grin, "Come on, man! Can't back out now! Everyone here gotta get at least one song in tonight!"
"No need to worry, Y/N! Besides, others are probably just as nervous," Kai'sa added.
Evelynn, her voice sultry, couldn't resist saying, "I'm sure Seraphine would love to hear him sing." She looked at the pink haired singer and said, "Wouldn't you?"
Seraphine blushed, her heart quickening at Evelynn's comment. "U-Um, well, I'd rather wait. I'm still hungry, wouldn't mind something to eat." Ahri felt hunger getting to her, too. She ordered some appetizers for the table.
As the joint was passed around, the warm buzz seeped into their systems. Seraphine didn't drink a lot, but the weed was making her mind hazy. Everyone around her chatted and laughed, sometimes at the performances onstage. She fidgeted with the legs of her jean shorts. It was hard to fight the butterflies in her stomach as her glances matched with Y/N.
Ahri noticed her fidgeting and gently whispered, "Nerves?"
Seraphine inhaled a shaky breath and said, "A little bit." She looked over at the others, her heart racing every time her sapphire blues met his E/C eyes.
Ahri patted her knee and said with an understanding tone, "You'll know when the right moment comes tonight. For now, breathe, and enjoy this time with him and the others."
She weakly smiled and nodded in response. Her lips met the glass and slowly drank. Y/N took notice of Seraphine. Even before arriving, her behavior was abnormal to him. So, he decided to speak up.
"Everything alright, Sera?" Y/N asked.
Seraphine's heart skipped a beat as his gaze met with hers. "Y-Yeah, everything's fine," she stuttered, her voice betraying her inner turmoil. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Qiyana nudge Senna and gesture to her. That smirk, and Senna's knowing expression, confirmed her suspicion. She took another shaky drink, trying to maintain composure.
An employee stepped up to the mic onstage. "Alright, alright!" he exclaimed, his dreadlocks dancing under the stage light. "Band's back from their break, so karaoke's now on! Who wants to step up?"
"Mmm! Me! Me!" Akali shouted, bounding out of the booth.
Y/N chuckled, her energy infectious. The crowd clapped and cheered, anticipating Akali's performance.
