Tonight was the night: our favorite trio's Battle of the Bands show. Seraphine's mom would bring her to the bar while Jinx rode shotgun with Y/N. It was her turn to be the DJ.

For the ride there. He'd take over on the drive home.

"That's what you get when you let your heart win! Whooooooaaaaaaaaa!" Jinx shout-sang over the loud music.

"Take it easy, Jinx," Y/N scolded. "Don't wanna lose your voice before the show."

Jinx didn't hear him. Actually, she did, but she didn't care. Her voice was plenty strong. The song continued to play loud volume all the way to the bar. They parked, then brought their instruments inside through the back. Seraphine was there to greet them.

"This is so exciting! I can't wait for our turn," she said.

"Well, I can. I'm in no hurry," Y/N mumbled, unpacking his drums.

"You're in luck," Jinx told him, "'cause Vander put us last to play. Plenty of time to get your head in the game."

"Gee, thanks," he flatly said.

"Hey! Don't you worry, dude," Jinx said with a smack on his back. "Just play like Jayce ain't here. You'll be fine!"

Seraphine nodded and said, "Akali said she'll be here in a bit with your disguise."

That was the plan. Some bands played with masks or full makeup to hide their face. Or, to impersonate other bands. Either way, it'd help keep him under the radar. Y/N thought it wasn't a half bad idea; as long as no one recognized him. While the three waited for the event to start, they had those spicy gator bites.

"Hey, these aren't bad," Seraphine said, popping another into her mouth. "You were right, Jinx."

"Course I am," she said. "When it comes to this place, I know what's best." No one could argue with her. Even Y/N was happy to see these again.

A tall, bearded man stepped onstage. He took a puff from his pipe, then spoke into the microphone.

"Hello, everyone

"Hello, everyone. Good to see you as always. As you know, I'm Vander. And let me be the first to welcome you back to The Last Drop's 'Battle of the Bands!'" The crowd clapped and cheered, excited for it to begin. "You know the rules: two songs, then the bartender and I judge you on the crowd. Give us your all!"
