Eliana grabbed her water bottle and slipped on her sneakers, ready for her morning training session. She had been working hard to hone her powers, and she was determined to be ready for the start of the school year at the prestigious Academy for the Gifted.

She whistled for her tamed dog, Alex, and the two of them set off into the forest. Eliana had always loved training in the peaceful woods, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

For two hours, Eliana pushed herself to the limit, running sprints and practicing her control over the animals around her. She was so focused on her training that she barely noticed the loud noise coming from the deeper part of the forest.

Curious, Eliana jogged towards the noise, Alex at her heels. As she approached, the sounds of two monsters fighting became clear. Intense growls and roars echoed through the trees as the two creatures clashed in a fierce battle.

Eliana watched in amazement as the monsters fought, each one using their unique powers to attack and defend. One was a massive dragon, its scales shining in the sunlight as it breathed flames at its opponent. The other was a giant wolf, its fur glowing with an otherworldly energy as it launched itself at the dragon.

The battle was intense and fast-paced, and Eliana found herself holding her breath as she watched. She had never seen such powerful creatures in action before.

As the battle raged on, Eliana noticed that one of the monsters was starting to weaken. It was the wolf, its energy beginning to fade as the dragon landed powerful blows. The Dragon noticed the wolf had the nothing left to offer so he decided to fly away.

Without thinking, Eliana raced towards the weakened wolf, Alex following close behind. She knew she had to help the poor creature.

As she approached, the wolf stopped fighting and stumbled to the ground, panting heavily. Eliana approached it cautiously, showing no hostility. She could see that the wolf was badly injured, and she quickly set to work bandaging its wounds.

As she worked, Eliana felt a strange sensation wash over her. It was as if the wolf was trying to communicate with her, its thoughts and feelings echoing in her mind.

Startled, Eliana stopped what she was doing and looked at the wolf in shock. It was staring at her, its eyes filled with confusion and pain.

"Why are you helping me?" the wolf asked telepathically, its voice echoing in Eliana's mind.

"Because it's the right thing to do," Eliana replied, still stunned that she was able to hear the wolf's thoughts.

The wolf nodded weakly, its energy fading fast. "You have great power within you, Eliana," it said. "The power to control and tame monsters. But there is more to your abilities than that. You have the ability to borrow the abilities of monsters you take in, or to take them from monsters you defeat in battle. Your power is greater than you realize."

Eliana's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe what the wolf was saying. It was impossible. She had always thought of her powers as weak and insignificant, nothing like the impressive abilities of her siblings and classmates.

"That can't be true," Eliana said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I can barely control strong monsters. I have no great abilities like that."

The wolf coughed up blood, its energy fading fast. "I speak the truth," it said, its voice barely above a whisper. "And I will unlock this power within you, as a reward for being the first human to show me kindness. Take my speed, Eliana. You will need it."

As the wolf took its last breath and passed away, Eliana felt her body burn with a rich, powerful energy. She felt stronger and lighter than she had ever felt before, and she knew that the wolf's words had been true.

She looked down at the wolf's corpse, feeling a sense of sadness wash over her. She had never seen a creature die before, and it was a sobering experience.

"Thank you," Eliana whispered, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you for unlocking my power and for showing me the way. I will use it for good, I promise."

She stood up and looked around, noticing that the night was setting in. She knew she needed to get back home before it got too dark.

But as she turned to leave, Eliana couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and determination wash over her. She had always wanted to prove herself and make a difference in the world, and now she knew that she had the power to do it.

She hung the wolf's corpse, saying goodbye and thanking it one last time. Then, with Alex at her side and a new sense of purpose in her heart, Eliana set off into the night.
