Austin watched his sister frowning at nothing as she sat at the quad.
Knowing Kai usually looked nonchalant when she was alone, the frown was a little worrying.
He had to text Aly.

Kai is frowning at the air.

Dude! Go talk to her.

You come do it. She kinda scares me.

She's harmless. Just go you big baby.

She spoils you so you dont know.

Austin I love you but don't be a dick. She hasn't done a thing to deserve that. She's just quiet. Now go be a good brother.

Before i smack you.

Abuse🤕

Kai felt icky in her skin. Like bugs were crawling all over her.

"Who pissed in your cereal today?"

Austin had startled her. "Jeez you a damn ninja or something?"
"That alone means something is wrong. You can hear the air when it changes direction."
Kai gave him a deadeye.
"Really?"
"Nah. But you usually you're pretty aware of yourself. So whats up?"
Without a proper answer she just settled on the mundane.
"I dont know."
"You can tell me anything you know. When you're ready that is. No pressure."
"That increases the pressure though. But honestly I don't know. I just don't feel settled."
"Trust yourself. Maybe you're just tired or maybe something is gonna happen. So don't stress yourself over what hasn't or will never occur."
She gave him a small chuckle. "You hiding stuff you knucklehead. Thanks."
She gave him a noogie like a sibling must. Its a requirement.
"Dudeee!!"

Walking aorund the auditorium hall for her next lesson Kai could feel eyes on her.
Not the paranoid kind but actually staring and whispering. She just kept her head up and continued walking.
The lecture hall had papers sticked onto the walls. Kai looked closer just in case it was an important announcement. It would have been better if it was that or even a mundane shoutout even a dick drawing but the world just doesn't work that way, it was her medical record specifically her gender marking page and full name attached.
"Well fuck"
She couldn't believe someone actually had the guts to do this. Only one person didn't like her much at the school.
Speak of the devil.

Otis rolled into the auditorium with his friends laughing loudly.
"Hey Kai. Should have told me you had a thing in those jeans. I'd have taught you how to use it."
His friends cackled like the fools they were.
"Dont you have better things to do? This is at best invasion of privacy or at least harassment Otis."
She gve him a droll look. "Dude i dont know what you mean. I didn't post those up."
"I never said you did."

The professor walked in and blached slightly when he saw Kai. Of cause he'd have issues with her.
"Hmm miss Williams do remove these papers from my class."
"I wont be held responsible for someone elses mess. They stole my records and placed them in a public area."
"I dont care who did it but we all dont need to be- to be forced to see these things."
More students walked in murmuring and casting side looks at her.
She wasn't ashamed of who she was but this feeling of utter contempt yet powerlessness never ceased to make her feel like a child again being shoved in the locker room.
Breaking Otis's nose would result in an expulsion and a record given she was an adult and had no evidence he did it. Though they both knew the truth.
She sat through the lesson mind running in circles till her thoughts settled on one thing.
Zoe,
Zoe didn't know and she was bound to hear something if she hadn't seen the posters already.
Given the professor's earlier stunt getting a free pass to leave the lesson is unlikely.
She just sat there and stewed.
The moment the lesson was over she ran out of class already calling Richard.
"Hey kid what's up? Aren't you at school right now?"
"I am. Uhhh listen someone leaked my medical record and pasted it around school. I'm sure by now its on social media as well. Is there a way for Dan to find who did it?"
"I'll kill them."
"Its fine. I just wanna know who did it for sure."
"Its not fine. Its an invasion of privacy also the school's fault for not protecting its students information correctly. My god! Are you okay? Do you need me to come get you right now?"
Kai had to stop and lean on the walls for a minute. It felt good to have him worry about her.
"I'm fine. I just need to know. I can't fight my way through this the way i want to. I'll be blamed."
"Its okay. I'm coming there anyways and I'll call Dan on the way."

Like the distance had doubled cause she was in a hurry, Kai finally made it to her dorm room. But it wasn't locked. Only one person had a key copy.
And right there by the walls and door were papers glued on. She already knew what it was and there was a paper section missing. She knew where it would be.

Pushing the door open after a deep breath and a sigh,
Zoe sat on her bed. She must have been practicing at the court.
Clad in her school jersey still, she sat there like a statue.

"Why didn't you- why would you?"
Her sentences aborted midway..
