Sitting on this swing
All alone on New Year's Eve
The sound of my feet thudding on the ground in my ears
I think to myself
Who do I want to be this new year?
Smart?
Brave?
Funny?
Pretty?
I don't know
My family fights while I sit outside
I spend New Year's Eve with my friends
Who I'm not even sure l like
So who do I want to be this year?
Me. I guess I don't have another choice
But I need to believe it this time
I need to say it with my voice
"This year I will be unapologetically, brashly me"
