"i love you both" their mom says

"we love you too" 15 year old emersyn says

it takes two minutes for the line to go from making beeping noises and going up and down, to it making a continuous noise and go flat

"mom? mom!" 17 year old luke says

luke runs out of the room to get a doctor as emersyn cried

"mom please wake up, mom please" emersyn cries out as a bunch of doctors rush in the room

"hey, its okay" luke pulls his little sister away from all the ruckus and hugs her

"luke-" emersyn says, falling on the ground as her brother holds her in his arms

there were a bunch of doctors attempting to revive their mother, there was a bunch of noise,  and emersyn couldnt do anything but cry as her brother did too.

"hey, emersyn wake up" her brother says

emersyn opens her eyes, she was drenched in sweat and crying and breathing heavily

"youre okay, youre fine" luke hugs her "did you get the nightmare again?"

"yeah" emersyn says lowly "luke can you please not force me to go to school?"

"you have to go" luke says

"its my fourth school this year, the chances of getting kicked out of this school too are very high" she rubs her eyes

"get ready" he shakes her

"fine" she gets up

she puts her low waist - baggy mom jeans on with a graphic sweatshirt and dark blue converse. she does her makeup and puts her hair up in a claw clip.

emersyn had been to 3 schools and this was the fourth one, why? first of all, her attendance was miserable, and second of all, she didnt do any of her work, she wasnt committed.

when her mom died, her and her brother lived with their moms parents for a while before luke had enough money to buy a apartment big enough for the siblings once he turned 18. emersyn was only 16 at the time so everything was a little confusing for her, considering her mom had only died a year before.

theyre dad bolted whenever their mom got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, he went to his side family. and as much as the siblings tried to get him to stay, he didnt do it. he left them all alone.

luke, emersyns 19 year old brother was always by her side. he never made her feel like she couldnt do whatever she wanted to do.

"emmy are you ready?" luke walks into her room

"yeah, im ready" emersyn grabs her backpack

"lets go" he grabs his car keys

they get in the car and he drives in the direction of the school. emersyn was dreading this day, she hated school with a passion.
