The next day, I sit in my bed running over everyone I knew. Blood-Fang kept watch through my eyes as I thought. Patty, Daniel, James, Ryan, Alex, and Victor were the only ones that could be here. Victor had no motive and isn’t here any longer. Alex is too stupid and works for Ryan who isn’t the person threatening me. It can’t be James, Daniel or Patty. There is no one else.

I growl and give up. Blood-Fang decided to catch on to my thoughts. ‘Don’t give up child. But we can’t do much right now. Patty can’t do anything but stay here at the house till Daniel calls.’

I shake my head in defeat. ‘But there is no one else.’

‘I know but don’t give up hope.’

I sigh and get up from bed. My phone rings and I answer it without looking and the caller ID.

“Whisper, I have James. He is fine but unconscious. I got him out, not poisoned.”

I breathed out a sigh of relief. “Thank god, Daniel. How soon can you guys get here?”

I heard some noise in the back ground. “Tomorrow by the latest. James got shot in his arm. He should be fine but that’s why he’s passed out.”

I growl a little bit. “I’ll kill who ever shot him! Oh and Mike called. We also need to talk as soon as you get here. I’ve been threatened through text, Daniel.”

He sighs. “I heard you last night. I’m trying to get us there as fast as I can. It’s not easy. All I can tell you is to stay in your room as much as you can.”

I sigh and sit down on my bed. “Ok I’m already doing that.”

“Good, I’ll have to call you later. I need to fix James’ bandage and call Mike.”

I tell him ok before hanging up. I put the phone on the charger and crawled into bed. I turned on the TV and watched TV shows for a few hours.

Around 12, I got up and went down stairs. Patty sat in the living room and Lane was in the kitchen.  He appeared to be cooking but the smell that came from the frying pan said otherwise. “Lane, if you don’t know how to cook then don’t. Smells like you killed something in that pan.”

Lane looked up at me and smiled. “Bout time you said hello. And I was trying to recreate my momma’s famous casserole. But I guess the meat is ruined.”

I laughed and pushed him out of the kitchen. “Go sit down and let the women cook.”

Lane grumbled but left. I cleaned up his awful smelling food and started to cook some chicken strips for lunch.

As I finished up the last batch, Lane came back in the kitchen. “You’re no joke. You can cook for me anytime if the food tastes as good as that smell.”

I laughed and shoved him away from the counter. “Get outta here or you won’t get any.”

Lane smiled and left again. Huffing, I set the dining table up and we ate lunch. Patty and Lane both complemented me on it. Patty wouldn’t let me clean up so I sat in the living room.

The phone rang then, so I answered. “Pack member speaking.”

“Hello Whisper, let Patty know to lighten up the border patrol for us to get through in an hour.” Daniel’s voice sounded tired.

I nodded to myself. “Will do. Is James ok?”

Daniel sighed. “Yes. Still sleeping but he’s healing quickly. The poison did a number on him and he isn’t healing as fast as he should.”

I whimpered a little. “Ok, are you sure that his is ok?”

There was a cough in the back ground before Daniel answered. “Yes, James will be fine. I need to go now. I’ll see you in an hour.”
