21 - Help

~*Daniel’s POV*~

Sky Woods smiled at me as she began to explain a little about her claim of being able to kill Shay. “You see Shay is a wolf that has vampire venom and werewolf blood infused with his DNA. So he is a monster. You can say that he is also a type of hybrid. A very powerful Hybrid at that. He can shift but only his upper body. This enables him to stand on his hind legs, which do not shift, and he is able to use is upper body such as a man would.”

I raised my eyebrows at this. One of the wolves that survived did mention seeing Shay shift. But the wolf was deemed insane because his speech is full of gibberish.

“So Sky, you’re saying that we have a super human hybrid? And how are we supposed to kill Shay?”

Sky smiles with a sinister look in her eyes. “I just need to get close enough and inject him with a particular chemical. I know how he was created and I also know how to kill him. He only weakness lies within that of a scientist’s abilities. Only a person of science could build his weakness. The main problem is finding the monster.”

This woman really does thin herself high and mighty. “So, let’s say you had the injection right now. How do you suppose that you can get close enough?”

Sky’s eye twinkled as she answered. “I have my ways Alpha. Just as my last name, my personal information is not of something that concerns you. If you can find the monster, then I will handle the rest. Whisper will be safe and sound as soon as we can find the beast.”

I sigh. Trusting this woman with the life of Whisper seems testy, but I don’t have much choice. She’s the one that has helped Whisper in the past. “Ok, I’ll help you. But over the next week, I need to monitor James. He is Whisper’s mate and our male Hybrid.”

Sky sighed. “I’ll visit the boy later and help him get better. Oh and one of your pack members are missing. You don’t know it yet but you will in a day or two.”

I frowned as this stranger assumed she knew what I didn’t. But before I could ask she stood and walked out the office with her black coat billowing behind her.

I sighed and rubbed my temples. The entire pack is still in chaos after the attack. If we are missing anyone, it will be unknown for a few days.

There’s a knock at the door. I look up to see my Gamma, John. He begins to report the number of deaths and injured. I get to work marking down our population as he speaks.

~*Sky POV*~

‘You should really respect an Alpha better then that Sky.’

‘Yes I know Aurora. But a normal werewolf would never understand us. Even if he has dealt with Whisper and James.’

I quickly leave the house and head in the direction of the pack hospital where James is held.

‘Dammit, I hate being so cooped up around all these pure breeds.’

I huff as my wolf complains. ‘I know but you’re too different. The pack would flip out and that isn’t ok. Especially after an attack. Daniel has enough on his hands.’

Aurora growls at me but I ignore her. I enter the Hospital and let myself into James room. I look over him and study his injuries. His back is torn open, both arms are broken, his jaw is dislocated. Dammit Shay, you nearly killed the boy.

I quickly place one hand on his fore head and the other on his bare chest. I start to hum as I channel my power into James, healing his wounds. Within a few minutes, all his injuries are gone and he’s perfectly well besides scars.

I remove my hands from him as he takes a deep breath. I use my mind to go into his. His human mind and soul is still weak from the mate bond being strained but his wolf is stirring. I nudge his wolf with my mind and use a communication link. ‘James’ wolf, don’t be alarmed. I am a friend. What is your name Wolf?’

The wolf growls over the link before answering. ‘Thorn. And what is going on? What did you do to us?’

I sighed. ‘I healed James’ wounds and awakened you. You should gain your memory soon. You won’t meet me again for a long time but don’t tell anyone about me. When the time comes you and Whisper will both join me and all will be well. Until then, you’ll know me as Sky.’

I with draw from James’s mind before Thorn could question more. I quickly leave the hospital and the pack land.

Once out of pack land, I text Daniel’s cell phone. ‘Call me when you find Shay’s location.’

Then I take my coat off and my boots and shift. My crystallized fur is stiff in the wind as always. My tail is has a black fog around it and my feet burn the forest floor with ever step. I pick up my coat and boots with my teeth and take off running at a speed faster than sound can travel.

~*James’s POV*~

I wake up in a hospital bed. My memory is foggy and Thorn is freaking out. ‘Thank god you’re awake. Your body is useless in your form. I can’t move or anything. I can only sit up here in our mind and wait. I’ve been waiting for hours for you to wake up.’

I grumble. ‘Shut up Thorn.’

He quiets and I look around. I’m defiantly in the hospital. My jaw seems suddenly sore but fells fine when I move it. I try to sit up but the bandages around my lower chest and the casts on my arms restrain me. I decide to yell for a nurse. A lady comes in with a shocked expression. “You’re ok? That’s impossible.”

I grunt. “I feel fine. And I just woke up. Can you get me outta here? I need to see Daniel.”

The nurse left and came back with a doctor. They checked my back, my arms and, my jaw before getting me out of everything. Finally an hour later I am released from the hospital.

I shift and run to the pack house. I go up to my room first and get dressed then find the Alpha in the office. I cough to get his attention. “My memory hasn’t come back yet. What happened and where is Whisper?”

Daniel sighs and explains everything and about halfway through, I remember everything.

I stop him and leave the room. I walk straight to Whisper’s room and sit on her bed.

The back pack that we were supposed to take is on the floor. I put it up and take the stuff out. My stuff is piled next to me and I find Whisper’s stuff at the bottom.

I pull out a picture frame of a young couple. The man had a werewolf look in his eyes and the woman is clearly human. But she is strangely familiar.

I put the frame on Whisper’s bed side table and then pull out her journal from the back. Quiet a lot if blank but the first 10 pages are filled with writing.

Knowing that I shouldn’t, I open it to the first page and begin to read. Thorn doesn’t object though.

I read through the entire journal. The last bit written ends with the day she meet me on her mission. I place the journal on the bed and put my head in my hands. ‘Thorn, I promise to kill every one of those people if I find out who there are. And if I meet Ryan, he will die painfully.’

Thorn was silent for a moment. ‘Now we understand why our Mate is in so much pain. To have so many things happen to her is not acceptable.’

I nodd. Feeling tired and missing Whisper, I crawl under Whisper’s covers and fall sleep.

~The next Chapter is an extra and not part of the story. It is Whisper’s journal but a shortened version.
