18 - Preparing

~*Whisper’s POV*~

‘I can’t believe how easy it is to talk to James but I can’t tell him my past. Not yet anyways. This War and after him getting kidnapped, I can’t open up and let the vampires know any weaknesses. It’s bad enough that they had James. Who knows what he told them while he was poisoned.’

Blood-Fang mumbles in my mind. I lay on my bed in my wolf form after the date. On my dresser there was a half gallon of blood for my thirst. I had drank some earlier when I first got back.

Now it’s late in the night and I’m unable to sleep. ‘And how did he see the scar?’

Blood-Fang shrugged and sighs. ‘Child, I only know that Thorn is working hard to fix James’ screw up. And Thorn talked to me earlier and explained that James has been beating himself up. I think you need to calm down and just forget what happened. The sooner you do, the soon we can become real mates and not this beating around the bush with dates.’

My phone vibrated on my night stand. I shifted and picked up the phone. It was a message from the unknown number again. ‘Have a nice night, Whisper? Things may not be going the way I planned the last week but I haven’t forgotten about you. You’re not a very smart girl. I thought that you would know who I am by now. Too bad. You better start getting ready. I don’t want you to die when the surprise attack comes in the next week. Oops, I gave you a heads up. Oh well. Ta ta my girl.’

The hair on the back of my neck rose. An attack on the pack? I need to tell Daniel. And who was this guy?

I quickly got dressed in shorts and a tank top. I opened my door and looked around. No one was in the hallway. I ran down the hall and up the stairs to Daniel’s room. I pounded on the door till a sleepy Alpha answered.

“What’s wrong? Something happen?”

I showed Daniel the text and sighed. “I got the text just a minute ago, Daniel. I think were gona be attacked by the vampires in the next week. And who ever this is, wants me alive.”

Daniel growled. “I’ll call a Pack meeting and after wards a conference call with the other packs. We must be on red alert. Luckily some of our vampires are arriving in the morning and we can do pack training. I’ll take care of everything in the morning. I need you and James to get rest and I want to in my office at 8.”

Daniel read the text again before dismissing me to bed. I tried to sleep but couldn’t. So I laid in my bed and stared at the ceiling till seven. I got up and got dressed in jeans and a lose T-shirt.

I knocked on James door. He answered dressed in just shorts. I couldn’t help but stare at his sculpted abs. He finally spoke, getting my attention. “Whisper, what’s going on?”

I fake coughed and answered. “Oh, uh, Daniel needs us in a meeting in his office by 8. I got a text from the guy threatening me and we may be attacked this week so he’s calling a bunch of meetings.”

James cursed. “I’ll be there in a minute.”

He shut the door and I went to the office. I took a seat and waited for Daniel and James to arrive.

When they both showed up, the door was locked and Daniel began to talk. “James, so you know we most likely will be attacked by the vampires this week but we don’t know when. Whisper wasn’t threatened but we do know that this guy wants her alive and may use the attack as cover to take her. I’m going to need you two to figure something out and stick close together. No wandering off alone or hunting alone.”

James nodded and I remained quiet. While Daniel continued to speak, “I will be having a pack meeting today and every one will be present or else punished. After that, training will start.”
