Patty shook me awake at the crack of dawn.  “Miss Whisper? You’re needed down stairs. We got some information about James and whether you like it or not you need to hear this.”

I growled and got up. Patty growled back but left, shutting the door behind her. As I stood up, I stepped on my journal. It was on the floor opened to one of my child hood pages. I picked it up and noticed the first line, ‘The first day in Homestead Orphanage was the scariest.’

Memories flooded my mind and I slammed the journal closed, fearing my past. I place it on my dresser and head down stairs once dressed.

Elva, Patty, Daniel, and Alex are all sitting in the living room. I give Alex an evil look before sitting down. Daniel begins to speak. “Our dear friend Alex has decided to join us in the last few minutes.”

Alex spoke up. “I was actually only checking in. I happened on this wondrous meeting and would like to join.”

Elva stands up. “I will not stay here to listen to this pompous foul interrupt a conversation that does not concern him. Call my care taker Teresa when this rogue leaves.”

I watched as the little witch child left the house through the front door. Alex’s face was red when I looked back at him. “That child, witch or not, need to learn some manners for her elders.”

Patty growled. “Shut up Alex. She has every right. You have been more of a pain then a blessing to this project. Why don’t you call from your post like everyone else?”

Daniel held up his hand to stop any more talk. “Looks like we will have to do as Elva says and wait for a more private time to talk. I’m sorry Alex that she has a temper towards you.”

Alex shook his head. “No matter. I’ll only be here a few hours. As for you Miss Whisper, only thing I had wanted to tell you is that I had a run with a human that somehow knew too much for his own good. He approached me and sent a greeting to Whisper.”

I frowned. “Who was it? I don’t have any friends.”

Alex sighed and shook his head. “I don’t know. But the guy knew who I was and that I could deliver the message. His name started with an ‘R’ and that is all that I can remember.  I do know that if he approaches a werewolf or vampire again like that his head will be lost or a set of teeth marks will appear on him.”

Daniel sighed. “Why would you let him live?”

Alex scratched his head and looked as a wall. “He was very rich and the body guards were very large for one person to take down.”

Daniel growled. Patty sighed as well but everyone was silent. I broke the silence. “And all you can remember is a single initial? I have to agree with Elva about this. A letter and money doesn’t help me at all.”

Alex shrugged. “I don’t know. I gotta run though so have fun with the big bad meeting.”

We watched as Alex left. Patty followed promising to bring back Elva.

Daniel sighed and stood up. I watched him as he left the room as well.

I sat on the couch and scanned my memory for anyone with an R name. After coming up empty three times, I gave up. I noticed that Elva and Patty were standing by the front door.

Daniel came in and everyone took seats. “Thank you, Patty. Whisper, dear. We know where James is and he is far away. But you don’t have to go. He happens to be near good number or our spies. What we really need to tell you was that he is sick. The captures have poisoned him and until we know what poison it is then we are unable to rescue him.”
