14 - Threat

Lane greeted me in the kitchen the next morning. “Good morning Miss Whisper. I’ll be here on your request and the Alpha’s command.”

I nodded as I poured cereal for myself. “I know. And I don’t want your allegiance to fade just because of me.”

“Yes ma’am. I was wondering though. What all am I suppose to be doing? Alpha said only to stand as a guard.”

I sighed and sat down and started to eat. I spoke in between bites. “My only thing is that I don’t want Ryan or Alex near my room. I’ll be there most of the time. I can handle myself outside of the house. I just feel safer if someone I can trust is nearby if Alex corners me again.”

Lane nodded. “Of course. Guard you and your room against Ryan and Alex.”

I nodded and watched as he left the dining room. Smiling to myself I finished my food and went up to my room. While there I looked at my hair in a hand mirror. It was getting long and my natural dirty blonde was starting to grow out. I brushed it and then laid on my bed.

I fell asleep reading a book from the office.

I woke up later that evening. I get up and go down stairs to get some food. While down there, the phone rings. I answer to an angry Alpha. “Where is Daniel? And if this is his mutt rouge or female beta then I will find a way to come over there and search for Daniel myself!”

I yell back getting the caller’s attention. “I am not a rogue or no dam Beta and if you keep hollering, then I will disconnect to phone and you will be shit out of luck!”

The Alpha paused. “You’re not a normal wolf to be able to talk to me like that. Are you a new Luna?”

I laugh. “I’m guessing the Luna would be Daniels mate, and I am no such thing. Just a wolf with will power. Daniel is gone on a rescue mission. Beta Patricia is in charge and not at the house currently either. Now what Alpha am I speaking to?”

He sighed before answering. “Mike. I’m Alpha of a pack in Mexico. One of his wolves was coming down here to pick up some of my members to begin a land transfer. You are not some wolf either. You must be Whisper, the hybrid.”

I growl. “Spies don’t need to know that Mike. And yes I am. Daniel is on a rescue mission in between your pack and this one. My Mate, our male hybrid, was captured. He was the one running the transfer. So if you don’t want to talk to Patty then ask for me next time.”

“How do you know I’m telling the truth?”

I pause and think for a second before responding. “I can tell. My wolf can tell too.”

“Ah, so it must be part of the hybrid abilities. Good to know. You also have more power then Alphas since you’re able to say my name and his without the surname before them.”

I nodd to myself, “Well mister Mike, I am in the middle of eating so call anytime that you need to speak to me. Just tell Patty that you need me.”

Mike hung up without another word. I went back to my food.

A few hours later Lane found me in my room. “Whisper, Patty is looking for you.”

I nodd and hop off my bed. I follow him down stairs and into the living room.

Patty looks up at me. “The Alpha called and wanted me to tell you about his progress. He is currently in the stronghold where they have James. Daniel has seen James and will have him out tomorrow morning.”

I sigh with relief. “How soon do you think it will take them to get home?”

Patty stands and hugs me. “A few days if James comes out not poisoned. Two weeks if he is poisoned when they get him out. “
