OUTLEARNING THE HABITS

*

Michael runs on the field, and sweat drops run over his face. He has been playing the entire game, and he's been good, really fucking good. He's the best defender on the team, and the number of times he stole the ball back has been immense. Alexis has been standing beside the field, screaming out of excitement. Besides, she is pretty much too excited to sit down. She has never been able to sit on the bleachers, and if she does, people hate her for how much sound she makes.

Not to mention, as the fan she is for her best friend, she's wearing one of his older competition shirts. There's facial paint covering her face, under her eyes. The colors of the team. It's pretty crowded and busy, but as the national team, they get a lot of spectators.

Suddenly, Michael gets pushed away, and the ball gets stolen. A frown grows on Alexis' face at the foul. Michael has never been quite fond of these things, so he quickly stands back up and races toward the ball. Yet, he isn't fast enough, and the other team shoots the ball toward the goal. A smirk grows on Ashton's face as he notices he gets some action. He quickly catches the ball that has been shot toward the goal. And so, everybody is cheering for the ball the other team didn't score.

Yeah, they love the soccer team and fuck, and they get a crowd every time. Alex's biggest guess is that it feeds their ego significantly. Besides, not to mention, if they win this game, they will play in a higher league. They'd likely play worldwide.

The ball is on the other side of the field for seconds, with Michael running behind it. He passes it to Luke, and once Michael is in front of the goal, he gets the ball back and scores. It feels like she's jumping ten feet in the air. Michael cheers as well and runs toward his best friend. A bright smile on his face. His arms are wrapped around the brunette so tightly, and she hugs him back.

"Did that look dope? I guess it did, didn't it?" Alexis chuckles and nods.

"It did," she confirms, and the smile on his face grows. He runs back to the field, and she smiles at him. He grows to be such a happy bean once he scores.

After the game, she walks towards the tribune to sit beside Calum and Scarlett. Calum tries to make it to most of Michael's games. Even though most of them are at night or on weekends, he still has his study, which takes a shit ton of time—Calum waves when he sees Alexis as his other hand dangles over Scarlett's shoulders.

"How'd you like the game?" Calum asks her. A smile grows on Alex's face as she starts ranting about how she thought about it, how she got mad when Michael got tackled, and how Luke was a team player for once.

"Hey guys," Ashton smiles. His hair is wet, and a sports bag hangs over his shoulder. It somehow makes her realize how long she's been ranting about the game since they always have a shower, a small talk about the game itself as to how to show improvement. Usually, they'd also take a beer, but since it's pretty early, she doesn't think they will do that.

Ashton has been the goalie for a long time. According to the coaches, he had always wanted to be a striker when he was younger, but he wasn't fast enough. People had consistently put him in the goal at school, and he soon found out that he liked it better. So he went to try out for football at fifteen and made it to the team. It was just an amateurish club, but he didn't care.

Of course, it had always been his dream to play world cups, big teams, and have people screaming his name, but just playing was enough. Three years ago, he moved here to live on his own such as moving closer to the club he had looked up to for a while. He got scouted and instantly took the spot.

Since that moment and after getting to know the team, he became best friends with Luke. She wouldn't be surprised if they had a threesome of sorts. Not to mention that Ashton is the sweetest, so she still questions why he's best friends with America's dickhead.
