WHEN FEELINGS ARE INVOLVED

*

Alexis has been watching the game. This time she's looking at it differently. Usually, she'd only look at Michael. Well, she would look at him most of the time. Her gaze is now entirely fixated on the curly blonde and Ashton dancing in the goal once the ball isn't there. It makes her giggle.

She's glad she still gets treated the same by both of them. They don't look at her any differently. Honestly, she couldn't be more thankful for that.

Once Ashton notices that she looks at him, he waves happily. He's such a goofy guy every now and then. She waves back at him, and someone stands beside the girl at that exact moment. She looks at the figure and quickly realizes it's her other best friend.

"Cal!" She exclaims happily, hugging the guy tightly. "It feels like I haven't seen you in ages." He chuckles and holds her as well. Calum has been on the stand for the entire game and didn't notice his best friend. His girlfriend - who's still sitting there - was also pretty invested in the game. Usually, Calum looks around to seek Alexis, but he loves that his girlfriend is so into the game. It made her look even more adorable than she actually is.

"You might want to watch," Calum says. A frown grows on her face, and she looks back at the game. Her green eyes seek the ball on the opponent's side. She quickly notices Michael running with the ball on his feet.

"Pass it to Hemmings," she whispers to herself. Calum notices and chuckles. He can't help but silently agree with the girl. Luke is literally free, and he could score it from that angle. Only he can do that.

Maybe he's the team captain because he can make anything work on the field.

At that moment, Michael passes the ball to Luke, making Alexis cheer inside. It's a few more seconds on the clock. If they don't score, it will be a tie and not look good for them. They have never lost a game, so a link feels like a loss, mainly because this opponent is lower on the ranking.

"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon," Alexis says softly, jumping in her place to shake the nerves off.

Luke shakes off the adrenaline in his body as he receives the ball ideally. From both sides, there are already people trying to steal the ball. His heart is beating a tad faster. He closes his eyes for less than a second; it's not even blinking. It's a small thought of him crossing the way like he always does, as if he can see clearly. It's like taking a breath after you've been hyperventilating.

Once he blows out a puff of air, he runs faster toward the goal and shoots it hard when he spots the perfect place. Hoping that if the keeper touches it, it will be too hard to catch anyways. It has worked before.

In awe, everybody watches the ball, but the second Luke really looks at it. He started cheering inside; he scored it. There's no way in hell the keeper will catch this perfect shot. And so it does; the ball rolls in the net, which makes everybody cheer. Michael runs toward the brunette on the sideline and hugs her. He gave the perfect assist; Luke has to admit it.

On the sideline, Alexis is still cheering and happily jumping around. The referee's whistle gets blown at that moment, letting them all know they had won.

Guys on the team run toward Luke to lift him, but all he has eyes, for now, is the happy girl on the sideline. She is being so incredibly joyful about their win. After seconds he takes in the success and enjoys being carried by his teammates.

"Where's Scarlett?" Alexis asks her best friend. The field is empty now, and they're taking showers... And whatever else may happen there. Calum turns around, and at that moment his girlfriend is in front of his nose. They share a kiss, and he wraps his arm around her shoulder. "How have you been?" Alexis asks the girl, smiling brightly.
