THE TRUCE BETWEEN ENEMIES

*

Weeks have passed, and Alexis still hasn't found a new job. The only thing that has been on her mind is the little bet Michael and her have. The one in which she has to make Luke fall in love with her. To do so, she has to see him as well. Yes, she saw him for a fraction of a second when she came over to Michael's place or whenever they had a game she also attended, but that's about it.

And to be utterly fair, she didn't feel like she needed to see him anyways. He's some good eye candy, we all have to admit that, but that's about it.

"What the fuck is Finley doing here?" Alex looks up from the dishes she was cleaning to see Luke. "Did you really fuck her? And you let her do the dishes after?" Luke chuckles. Why are the pretty ones always so dumb?

"She's my roommate. I told you about it, Luke." Ashton sighs.

"You're ignoring the question, Irwin." He smirks. Alex rolls her eyes at him and continues cleaning the dishes to put them where they belong. Ashton and Alex take turns regarding who is washing the dishes or laundry. When she's finally done, she sits on the couch.

"Why are you so invested in the girls he could possibly stick his dick in? That sounds quite gay. Is this your coming out? I'm so happy for you, Hemmings! Are we throwing a party?" She smiles happily as the frown on his face grows.

"Bitch." He hisses. Ashton chuckles and sits beside Alex on the couch. "Good to know you're back." He adds.

"What do you mean?" She asks him.

"You seemed off after what happened." He explains. Ashton swifts his gaze between the two of them, and the air grows thicker with every second passing. She has been thinking a lot about what happened but is even more afraid of what's yet to come.

"What happened? Michael also did very suspiciously about it. Is there something I need to know?" Ashton questions. Luke's eyes meet hers, and we both inhale to answer, but he's quicker.

"Nothing too important." He speaks out. Alex can't help but sigh, relieved, and feel the tension in her body slowly leave. "Nothing too important for me to remember." He adds, making Alex roll her eyes. "Can I talk to you, though?" She frowns as she notices he's talking to her. Ashton is quick to leave, and she looks at him.

"What do you want?" She asks him.

"To take up on your offer, to start over." Alex brings her knees up and holds them.

"What made you change your mind?" She looks for an expression on his face, and she finds it when his eyes look into hers. "You pity me." She states. His shoulders drop, and he runs his hand through his curly hair. "You want us to start over because you feel sorry for me." He looks up again, a sad frown covering his face.

"Listen, Finley." He starts. "Yes, I do feel bad about what happened, but still, what we do is childish. We're grown-ups." Oh, now he's saying this, huh? Using her words to get himself in better daylight.

"So if we do this, you promise me you won't say shit that hurts me again?" He nods. "You promise not to objectify me? To make me feel like a fool? To say that I'm not worth shit?" Again, he nods.

"C'mon, Finley," he sighs, "You were the one coming up with a truce." She can tell he's growing impatient with her, and he might even become furious with what she's about to say. A smirk forms on her face, and he groans, annoyed.

"Prove that you can be an actual nice human being." She looks up to find the better words. "Prove that you're worth it. For my sake, I don't care if you continue roasting me because I definitely won't stop roasting you."
