"Do not be discouraged for losing writing contests."
"Writing contest is a battleground," says Jake Samson in his Facebook post. I agree! In a contest, there will be winners and there will be losers—like in a war. Before joining, be sure to be well-equipped. Study the mechanics and don't attack when you have no knowledge in the specific competition at all. Make it also a motivation, if in case you will be defeated, to strive hard and try for another one. Practice more as to acquire enough bullets for the next battle. Here's a personal suggestion: Set another goal in joining contest besides winning. Say for example, to showcase your creativity, to improve your skill, or to gain friends. In this way, your heart may be saved from despair. Do not act rudely and fight against the judges or moderators if you will not be on the top list. Choose to radiate good sportsmanship. If you have any question, approach directly and pleasantly the concerned individuals rather than ranting on social media sites to create chaos. It's cowardice! On the other hand, if you will win, always possess a humble heart. Do not scorn your competitors. For the Bible says, "Don't rejoice when your enemies fall; don't be happy when they stumble."
Do your best every time you engage in a contest to avoid regret afterwards. Avoid playing dirty tactics, as well. Bear in mind, what you plant is what you harvest. Most importantly, do not be disheartened when the outcome does not favor you. It's a fact that judges have different perspectives. And I believe, there will be another chance for you to join. May the words of Apostle Paul move us, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Be courageous and fair in every competition.
