"Learn from your mistakes and failures; and from others too."Mistakes are part of us, writers. Beginners and even professionals cannot avoid committing errors: in terms of grammar, punctuation marks, and technical aspects. As the saying goes, "Nobody is perfect." However, as long as we are able to open our eyes in the morning and grab our pen and paper, we are fortunate enough to learn. We are unconscious sometimes, even how we deliberately act, we still fall short, for we are humans. We may hurt our fellow writers due to our unpleasant words or actions. And those are normal occurrences. We must admit them wholeheartedly, change for the better, and not repeat again. What is not good is to disregard our misconduct. On the other hand, if we see the wrongdoings of fellow writers and witness its consequences, it is necessary to obtain lessons from them. Do not just ignore nor mock them. Those serve as our warning as well.
Failures are inevitable in the literary field. There will be rejections from manuscript submissions, defeat from contests, low book sales, less book promotions in paid platforms, and defrauded by illegitimate editors or firms. Ms. Joy Tan Chi-Mendoza posted on her Facebook timeline, "Failures aren't final." Hence, we can transform them and not to repeat again. As writers, our crafts now may be lame for others, but do not be disheartened. Despite of errors, strive to be better day by day. Let us be reminded by the Scripture: "For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity." Therefore, when you get down, choose to stand up again. Look ahead and refrain from looking aback. Convert your weaknesses to strengths, failures to success, and wrong to right. It is not too late.
