*Author's Note - soooo sorry for not updating for over a week. I've been working on school and a new writing project that I'm currently writing in a google doc and debating whether I should post it. My goal is to do at least one chapter every week, but I am human, so I can't guarantee it. I'd also like to say that writing is much harder and more time consuming than reading. It can take me up to three hours to write a chapter y'all read in 15 minutes. Please keep that in mind. Recently I got a boost of confidence from one of my readers that has help me get back into the swing of things. Thanks a LOT to all of you who read this. You mean the world to me. Now back to the story!*
You glide through the hole in the clouds, feeling absolutely exhilarated. This is it. Your new life lays on the other side of these clouds. You hold your breath as your loftwing dives through and lands directly in front of the Statue of the Goddess. Quickly, you sling a bag over your shoulder and leap off, giving your loftwing a few pets and signaling that it can leave now. Footsteps approach you from behind. You turn around.
"It's about time!" Groose exclaims.
You give him a small smile. Someone appears behind him, walking towards the two of you. Once seeing it's you, Zelda runs forward and gives you a large hug. She's back in her pink dress and leggings. You return the gesture. She takes a step back.
"I'm so glad that you made it! Groose can show you around camp, then you can go to the main tent and sign up for a task force. You'll love it here, I'm sure you will!" she explains.
You nod. She waves goodbye and runs off into a temple in the distance. It's impossible to not look around. There are so many trees! Things that resemble mini loftwings sit in the trees and on the ground. Despite the cloud barrier, the sky is still blue and the sun shines through. You were expecting The Surface to be dark and gloomy, blocked entirely by the sun. Groose chuckles a little. You turn to him.
"What?" you ask.
"You remind me of when I first came down here," he replies.
You give him an uneasy laugh and turn towards the temple. He walks in front of you, facing away.
"Well, (y/n), are you ready to begin your new life here?" he asks.
"You bet!" you reply excitedly.
He turns around and gives you a large grin.
"Then we'll begin with a tour!" he exclaims.
You give him a calm nod, but your heart is absolutely racing. He takes a few steps forward and slips into the temple. You jog to catch up to him. While the outside of the temple was mesmerizing, the inside completely took your breath away. Your mind couldn't take it in all at once. Sunlight shown through holes in the ceiling, giving everything a beautiful gleam. You slowly step up a few stairs and on to a miniature platform built out of slightly molding rock. The pillars holding up the decaying roof looked ancient. To the left is a small courtyard with multiple benches and a magnificent tree. You watch it as you pass. A couple of soldiers are sitting under the tree, sheathes leaning against the bark. A small door was what occupied the right side of the temple. It was slightly propped open, but you couldn't see out of it. Carefully, you and Groose ascend a larger staircase to a larger platform and two doors opened wide. A makeshift fence was propped in-between the doorframes. You lean over the fence to look inside. An even larger hole in the ceiling allows light to shine on a pedestal in the middle of the room. Placed inside the pedestal is a silver sword with a long, stylish navy-blue hilt wrapped in a turquoise ribbon. Two wings come out of the hilt and a golden gem that sparkles in the center. The actual blade has an almost glowing Triforce embedded on it. Just the sight of the blade causes your mouth to hang open in awe. Shattered, brownish yellow stones are scattered around it. Vines hang off the wall in the back of the room. You stare at it, wondering who could have created such a magnificent sword. Groose crosses his arms and clears his throat.
