You rush down the long hallway to the entrance of the Goddess Statue. Hopefully that guard is still knocked out. The door is still partially open when you reach the entrance, which is a good sign. You slowly creep out, breath drawn, and take in your surroundings. There's a knight talking with two other figures, two of them facing away from you. None of them have noticed you. From your spot in the doorway, you duck behind the stone door to listen.

"Are you two really the only ones who could come?" a male voice grumbles.

"We're better than nothing," a familiar voice replies.

"I shouldn't even be awake," another familiar, higher voice yawns.

You take a sharp breath once you identify two of the voices.

"Are you sure you someone's in there?" Groose asks.

"I don't know why else G here would be knocked out or the door open," the guard replies coldly.

"Well who is it?" Hummer asks.

"Don't know," the guard admits.

"We should wait for them to leave. Then confront whoever it is," Groose suggests.

There's no response, but you hear the slight ring of a sword being drawn. You purse your lips. One of them you could take, yes, but not both Groose and Hummer, plus whoever else is there. From where you're standing, you can see the moon is high in the sky, to the point that it's a couple hours past midnight. The nightfall isn't going to last forever. You suppress a yawn.

"Are you sure we should wait? I want to go to bed," Hummer whines.

"Whoever's in there, this is Captain Groose of the Skyloftian Knights. Come out with your hands up, and we might not hurt you!" Groose yells.

You take a deep breath and walk out, your hands raised to the sides of your head.

"(Y/n)!?" Hummer shrieks.

"Wait, that (y/n)?" the guard asks.

Groose's eyes go wide, but he doesn't react. The guard takes off his helmet, revealing his face.

"You picked the wrong time to come here," Oiseau growls.

"Oiseau..." you whisper.

Groose slowly slides his sword back into the sheath. You turn your attention from Oiseau back to Groose.

"I never thought you'd be the one to betray us," Groose mumbles, shaking his head.

"I only did after Link betrayed me," you spit.

"But why?" Hummer asks.

You shrug.

"I don't understand," she whimpers.

You hold out your hand and take a step forward.

"Don't move," Groose commands.

You stop. Groose places a hand on Hummer's shoulder.

"Just let me go, and you won't ever have to hear from me or Ghirahim again. It's not right how you kept him locked up in there," you say slowly, hand still out.

"And why should we do that?" Oiseau smirks.

You don't have a response. Hummer looks into your pleading eyes, then back at Groose.

"What did you do?" she asks innocently.

"Locked up a bad man," Groose replies, turning to her.

"He's not a bad man! Demise forced him to do what he did!" you exclaim.

Hummer turns back.

"That still doesn't excuse his actions," Groose replies.

"You forgave him easily. Why can't you forgive me?" Oiseau asks.

You purse your lips and swallows. Hummer looks back one more time before pulling her should away and walking up. She stands right next to you, arms crossed defiantly. You look over to her, mouth thank you, and turn back to Groose, standing just a bit taller. Oiseau gives a concerned glance to Groose, but neither falter.

"That makes you a traitor too, Hummer," Groose points out.

"I'm not betraying anyone. I'm standing up for my friend and what she believes is right," she replies.

Groose bites the inside of his cheek and looks down.

"Ghirahim did nothing wrong. He shouldn't be given the blame for Demise's actions. Now let us go," you reiterate.

Oiseau scoffs. Groose looks back into your eyes. You take a deep breath.

"Groose, we both know that this is better for me, instead of hiding myself with these nobodies. With him, I can really be me. And he can train me. This is your decision, but promise me that you'll do what's right," you beg.

He takes a deep breath as his shoulders sag. Oiseau rolls his eyes.

"Do you really love him too?" Groose asks meekly.

Without thinking on it, you give him a single nod. He sighs.

"Oiseau, put away your weapon. We're letting them go," Groose commands.

"What!? You're just letting her go!?" Oiseau exclaims furiously.

"If she thinks it's right," he shrugs, smiling.

You smile and turn to Hummer. She's frowning a little, but looks happy for you.

"Will I ever see you again?" she asks.

"Maybe. I can try to come and visit, if Link and Groose let me," you reply.

She sniffles and embraces you in a large hug. You wrap your arms around her.

"You better visit," Groose calls out.

You pull away from Hummer and turn to him.

"You're not mad?" you ask.

He shakes his head and walks over. You extend your hand, but instead of just shaking your hand, Groose pulls you into a tight hug. You gasp for air and push away, smiling. Oiseau grumbles something off to the side.

"Don't worry about Link. I'll take care of him," Groose adds.

"Thanks, cousin," you reply.

He nods and saluts. You do the same.

"Now you better get out of here before reinforcements arrive," he points out.

You nod and look off to the surrounding forrest. If you go southeast instead, you may be able to make it to the edge of the cloud barrier.

"Good luck!" Hummer exclaims.

You nod and rush off, leaping over the metal fence and refusing to look back.
