A/N: Don't you love having band practice in 90-to-100-degree weather to the point you almost pass out and feel so sick you can't do anything besides homework and bed? Yeah, um updates will be a little whack now until November because of band, but I'll still update whenever I feel up to it. And I just came out as trans so yay me!

TW: Blood, Death

Groose leads you through the streets at sunrise. It had been deemed too unsafe to leave until daybreak. Blood covers the streets. You can't tell if it's human or demon. Someone lugs something into the fountain. You stop to watch them. The bodied is so terrifyingly bloodied and destroyed you can't tell it's a Lizalfos until you pass by. You shudder. The statue has been toppled. Both the sword and the head of the figure have fallen off and are sitting apart, cracked. You turn back to Groose and sprint to catch up to him.

"Where's Link?" you ask.

"He headed back to camp a while ago, after the streets were cleared," Groose replies.

You nod slowly, looking around. One of the houses is still smoldering. Many are completely destroyed. Hopefully they didn't touch the houses farther in the village. You have your doubts. Groose leads you to a clearing outside of the village gates. His Loftwing is curled on the ground, sleeping. You've never seen a Loftwing sleep. He pats its head. It quickly looks up, stands, and stretches its wings. Groose immediately hoists himself up and extends his hand to help you. You ignore the gesture and climb up behind him. He snaps the reins on his Loftwing pretty harshly.

You watch the castle disappear in the distance as you ride towards the camp.

Link's POV: Same time

Zelda and I walk through the doorway at the base of the Goddess Statue. Thankfully, the door is well hidden. Demise's sword is extremely heavy. I can't wait until we lock him up and I'll never have to think about him again. We make it to the round. Zelda quickly goes and unlatched some of the chains from each other. I drop the sword in the center of the room. She walks over to me.

"How do we get him out?" she asks.

"I have no idea. We might have to wait for him to regain some energy," I reply.

She nods. We both look down at the sword.

"I have no idea how Demise could have delt with him," Zelda sighs, shaking her head.

I nod.

"But then again, he must have gotten it from somewhere," she mutters.

I sit down across from the sword. Zelda places a tense hand on my shoulder. I reach up and squeeze it.

"I guess we have to put him in time out then,"

Your POV: An hour later

You stop in front of Link's tent and take a deep breath. He and Zelda requested your presence. You haven't even had time to move into your new tent. Pipit shares with Groose now. As a reward, you get your own. You part the curtains and step inside. Link and Zelda look up. Zelda gives you a warm smile.

"Please, sit," Link says, gesturing across the table.

You walk and sit while biting your lip. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Zelda take Link's hand from under the table. You resist the urge to roll your eyes.

"We just wanted to be the first ones to welcome you home after almost two months," Zelda says sweetly.

"Thanks," you sigh.

"And we wanted to assure you that everything is under control now. Ghirahim has been dealt with," Link adds.

Your heart skips a beat at the mention of his name. You haven't thought about him all morning. You remember what happened right before he vanished. Your cheeks go red.

"He'll never get close to you again," Zelda assures.

"What's going to happen to him?" you ask, switching your gaze in between them.

Link and Zelda glance at each other, then back to you.

"Seeing how she did the entire mission by herself, I think it's fair that we tell her," Zelda points out.

Link nods.

"He's being held in a secret room in the base of the Goddess Statue for questioning. We'll probably keep him there a while to make sure he won't try anything once we move him to Skyloft," Link explains.

You purse your lips and take a deep breath through your nose.

"Can't he just teleport away?" you ask hopefully.

"No, he shouldn't be able to. We have some... special chains that should take all his energy but give him just enough to live," Zelda explains.

You exhale and nod. Your stomach is in knots.

"You don't need to worry about him anymore. He can't touch you," Link repeats.

"Is that all?" you ask.

"It should be. You won't have any missions for the rest of the month so you can rest up," Link replies.

You stand and leave without another word. Your mind is in shambles. Between last night and this morning, you don't know what to think. Maybe some rest will take your mind off it. You beeline towards your tent on the far end of the tent to finish setting up and get some sleep. It's going to be a tough week; you can feel it already.

Zelda's POV: Same time

I turn to Link and squeeze his hand.

"Everything is going to be okay," I assure him.

"How can you be sure she doesn't love him and ruin everything?" Link asks, propping his head on his fist.

"I can't, but she'll move on. It's (y/n) we're talking about. And who, in the name of Hylia, would fall in love with him anyway?" I reply.

"We have to make sure she doesn't try anything," Link sighs.

"I may have already enlisted some help,"

He turns to me. I give him a soothing smile. His shoulders relax.

"I doubt she'll even think about him if Hummer and Groose are keeping her on her toes,"

He nods slowly. I stand, still holding his hand.

"Speaking of Groose, we need to see if he's made any progress with getting Ghirahim to awaken,"

Link stands. I drag him towards the door to the tent. He follows, albeit grumpily.

"I don't think it's a good idea to leave those two alone anyway, with Groose's temper and all,"
