Chapter Seven : Dread and Hate

The next day Team Omega, Alison and Carter had made a base for the Priest and his bitch. Carolyn had opted out, and Rose had been completely quiet. Mardin was unaware of the mood change; only that when he had tried to stab her she barely tried to avoid it. Arson was a bit more aware of her mood; however he knew better than to try to investigate. Carter and Alison had avoided all talking to the others; and resorted to instead talking to the Priest.

Alka was the only one who dared to ask. After about an hour when the group was taking a break Alka had brought her over to the side and sat down; motioning for her to do the same. After glancing around she sat down in the shade of a tree.
"What's wrong Rose?" Alka said quietly. She was silent, seeming to stare of far beyond the horizon. Her mind was elsewhere; somewhere Alka wasn't able to see. "Rose?"
"Drop it Alka." Her curt reply shocked him, and he sighed before leaning back against the tree trunk.
"Rose, we're a team." He turned towards her. "Aren't we supposed to tell each other things?" Rose groaned and put her head against the tree; staring up at the sky.
"We're team Alpha, when exactly have we been known to share things?" Alka bit his lip and continued to stare at Rose.
"Well we could share things. You can tell me." Rose turned and looked at Alka; her eyes unreadable from behind the mask. She was quiet for a second before turning away.
"Why do we have these masks Alka?" Rose said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. Alka froze. "We both know what we're seeing isn't what things look like. I remember how things look, and this isn't it. I know I'm really seeing darkness." She turned to him, her lower lip quivering. "I miss the sun Alka." Rose pulled her knees to her chest and rocked slightly. "Why are we like this Alka?" He sighed shakily, looking around at his surroundings nervously.
"Rose, I don't know. But you shouldn't be saying these things-" Rose's head whipped around to look at him.
"I thought you said I could tell you things. You said 'we can share things,' you said 'you can tell me.'" A hard look crossed her face as she got up and began to walk away. "I say you were wrong."

"Do you think the plan will work?" Avel whispered, locking eyes with Carter. He chuckled in response.
"Of course, I made it. Just double checking; only revenge on Rose?" Avel nodded.
"Then I'd like to join." A voice sounded from behind them, and the pair turned. Carolyn was in the doorway. "Gotta admit, you guys look pretty shady crouched together like that." Carter was still frowning at Carolyn, but Avel stood up and walked over to her.
"Why do you want revenge on Rose?" Carolyn's jaw clenched.
"Because, she didn't just hurt you. Now tell me this plan of yours."
~
"That's a stupid plan." Carolyn said, a smirk on her face. Avel frowned at her.
"What do you mean it's stupid? Carter said it would work."
"But it's stupid."
"So stupid it could work?" A hopeful tone, however Carolyn just sighed.
"Fine. But I'm not being out in front for this one. If it doesn't work we'll try again." Carter's eyes lit up. "My way."
~
As Carolyn had told the pair, Rose was out and around at night. However they hadn't anticipated quite what she meant. Perhaps they thought that she went out for a stroll. Maybe that she went out to see the stars.
They didn't however anticipate that she would be darting around taking out her feelings on the monsters that were swarming her. At first she had been darting around; impossible to catch and hard to keep track of. The pair had originally been tracking her together, all while trying to lug around the equipment needed for their Justice.
It was only five minutes later they realized that wouldn't work.
Then the pair attempted to split up and track her. In comparison that was an awful idea, mostly due to the fact that Rose could've attacked one of them if not for the fact that her mind was on something else.
It was much later into the night she had stopped moving around, standing still instead to allow the monsters to surround her. Screams of anger emitted from her, raw and full of desperation and confusion. However these emotions weren't caught by pair.
The monsters kept coming at her and she was slowly wearing out. After hours and hours of her swinging she stumbled. Carter grinned and darted out to attack her. Avel reached out to stop him, however was too late.
Instead he watched in the split second that Carter disappeared from his sight only to see him reappear moments later. He was flung through the air and smacked into a tree. In a quick series of motions all the monsters around Rose were lying on the ground.
She looked different.
She looked terrifying.
She was breathing heavily, and blood was splattered all over her, whole areas of her skin covered completely in blood. Her boots had blood all over them, and her clothes were torn. Blood matted her hair, and her sword had a steady flow of blood trailing off of it. Cuts and bruises covered her. She stumbled and used her sword to prop herself up.
She was barely holding on.
Carter slowly got up.
"NOW!" The two ran at her and she screamed; dragging her sword up, and as she did tears of blood became visible.
Perhaps if the boys had seen this, things would've ended differently.
This wasn't the case.

~

Carolyn was in the infirmary with Carter and Avel, who both were severely injured.
"I told you it was stupid."
"I'm aware." Carter snarled at her, before turning away. Carolyn sighed.
"We're doing things my way. Got it?" Carter and Avel didn't look at her. "Got. It." The two nodded just as the doors were thrown open, and Alison rushed into the infirmary; taking her boyfriends face into her hands?
"Are you okay? What happened?" Carter glanced at Carolyn who shook her head slightly. Alison turned to look at Carolyn, a pleading look in her eyes. A rush of anger filled her.
"Rose ambushed us."

~

Rose was silent in her room. She had been silent the entire time since Avel and Carter had ambushed her. She dragged her sword against the floor, the blood blending in with the red of the carpet. She discarded her clothes into the trash and walked slowly to her bathroom. She stood infront of the mirror and saw all the cuts decorating her skin and sighed before grabbing the first aid kit.
She bit her lip as she sanitized the first cut, and as she got the thread and needle ready she felt empty. Painstakingly she wove the needle, and a tear of blood fell from her face as she knotted it.
One done, 27 more to go.

~

Carolyn was resting in her room. She was sick of this feeling. She wanted it to go away. Rose was the cause of all this pain.
She had always told the others that they were mistaking justice for revenge. But she now saw the truth.
This is justice.
She felt sick, all because of Rose. She knew how to get rid of the sickness.
You terminate the sickness.
