Chapter Eight : Day of Death
In the morning Team Alpha gathered to discuss their plans for Justice.
"I can't believe she ambushed you!" Alison was ranting, pacing angrily across the kitchen waving her hands as she talked. Avel was watching her with vague amusement, Carter was just watching her with annoyance, and Carolyn was analyzing her.
"You've already said that Alison." Carter fidgeted with his bandages as he said it, and Alison turned to him.
"What if you hadn't gotten off so easy? What if you had DIED!?"
"Alpha would resurrect him then." Avel was quickly growing bored of this; and shot a look over at Carolyn. Gears were turning in her head; and she came to a quick plan.
One that would help with the overall.
"Alison there's nothing we can do-" Carolyn began; and allowed a moment for Alison to cut her off.
"We can get justice!" Alison's heart beat with anger, and she felt the need for some justice. Carolyn almost smirked, but morphed it into one of sympathy.
"Alison, are you sure?" Alison's heart was set in place.
"Positive."
And Carolyn's plan was set in place.~
Rose hadn't left her room. When she had woken up one of her cuts had reopened and she had to stitch it back up. Downstairs in the Team Omega kitchen it was silent; a rarity. Arson and Mardin were in the training room throwing knives. However they were at the point when they were trying to hit each other rather than the actual target. Alka had been in the kitchen cleaning up when Rose walked downstairs. Alka needed to do a double take; Rose's hair was braided and a long jacket covered her body. She walked silently and grabbed a piece of toast before starting to walk off again.
"Rose?" Alka said quietly, and she froze. "Are you okay?" She stayed still a second more before continuing to leave; grabbed a knife and walked out the door.
The door slammed shut and left Alka standing in silence.~
Rose clutched the jacket around her as the warm air wrapped around her. She continued her walk under the trees; her pace slow. She was sick of the silence, of not being able to do anything. She was sick of it.
She wanted to get out.
As she walked, she was nearly oblivious to the others that were hiding in the trees.
Carolyn's plan was set.
Team Alpha moved about in the branches, and Rose continued to walk. Alison stepped on a branch and a twig fell, and everything froze.
Rose slowly reached inside her jacket for the knife when Carolyn jumped down.
"Carolyn?" Rose was staring at her but Carolyn just drew two knives.
"Don't wear it out." Rose whipped out the knife and caught Carolyn's knives.
"What are you doing?!" Rose said, slowly moving back and Carolyn pressed down on Rose's knife.
"Helping us." Avel jumped down with Carter and they stood up.
Rose was still before kicking out at Carolyn's stomach. She bent over and Rose stole an extra knife and bolted. Weaving in and out of the trees she heard arrows sticking into the trunks, and she could feel her stitches about to break. However as she heard Carolyn shouting commands at Carter and Avel she didn't care. She pushed herself harder and felt at least two break.
"Carter go left! Avel cut across!" Carolyn yelled; cueing Alison to cut off Rose. Carolyn knew how Rose worked; she learned everything from her.
Poor poor Rose. Killed by her own strategies.
By the time Rose realized what was happening Alison had jumped in front of her.
"The triangle trap." Rose said, slowly inching away. "Best trap I ever made."
"If I do remember correctly, 'no one has ever beat it.'" Carolyn walked up behind Rose, rubbing her stomach lightly. "Want to see if you're lucky number one?" Rose jumped back but hissed in pain as another stitch broke. Blood began to seep through her jacket; though it was invisible amount the black fabric. Rose scanned for an escape plan; but there was none.
Just as she had created it to.
As she scanned Carolyn kept her eyes on Rose; relishing the last moments Rose had. Alison was fuming and Carter and Avel looked excited. Excited to finally get justice.
Carolyn watched as Rose's head slowly turned to the cliff, and her body went rigid.
She knows what's going to happen. Rose turned back to Carolyn.
"What happened to true justice huh?" Rose began, taking a step towards Carolyn. "What happened to 'they're not doing justice'?" Carolyn froze as she heard her own words being thrown back at her. "What happened to the 'true justice' you always talked about?"
"SHUT UP!" Carolyn lunged at her, and Alison immediately helped her.
Carolyn gripped Rose's neck, forcing her head over the cliff side. Wind rushed beneath them, and Rose struggled to breath. "I'm so sick of you." Carolyn hissed. Rose thrashed; trying to throw off the others, but Alison held fast to her legs.
"This IS justice," Alison snarled at Rose, her eyes almost red with fury. "This is what you get for ambushing my team." Rose stopped thrashing for a moment before trying harder than ever. Carolyn pushed her further off the cliff.
"I... Didn't..... Ambu-" Rose started to choke out, but Carolyn gripped her neck harder.
"Don't lie to us." Alison hissed, and Carolyn continued to try to shove her off.
"GET OFF OF HER!" A knife flew past and cut off part of Carolyn's hair as is disappeared into the abyss below. Arson and Mardin darted over and Mardin picked up Alison and threw her off. Rose swung her upper body back onto the grass and kneed Carolyn in the jaw before kicking her off the cliff. Arson ran over to her.
"Rose are-" Rose screamed and started to fall off the cliff.
"If I'm going you're going too!" Carolyn yelled, griping on to her ankle and dragged her down closer to the edge. Mardin kicked away Alison and darted over and grabbed her arm.
"GET THAT BITCH OFF OF HER!" Mardin shouted at Arson; who then stabbed two knives into the cliff face and gripped onto them before swinging down and kicking Carolyn in the shoulder. She screamed and fell down. Mardin yanked Rose back up onto the grass before grabbing Arson up. Rose was gasping for air; curled up and breathing heavily. Mardin sat off to the side with Arson.
"Are you sure she'll be okay for tomorrow?" Arson said quietly; staring over at Rose.
Mardin glanced over at her shaking figure.
"Guess we'll have to see. I mean it'll only be Avel." Arson scoffed.
"Only with Rose can we say 'it's only Avel'."___________________________
Me: Oh dear Carolyn went a bit crazy didn't she?
Anah: You don't say.
Mardin: Hey Anah did you see how I saved the day there?
Anah: I did! It was so heroic!
Mardin: I pretended it was you.
Anah: SWOON
Laura: Knock it off you two. This is disgusting.
