Chapter Sixteen : A Lack of Privacy

The sun washed over her as she lay in the grass, her hair sprawled out across the grass and her hands holding her head up behind her.

"Rose!" She turned her head to see Avel running up the hill towards.

A smile spread across her face.

"Avel! What's up?" She sat up as he neared; a grin on his face.

"Not much. Nice-" he tripped over a rock and tumbled onto the ground before he started rolling down the hill. He screamed shrilly as he disappeared from view; leaving Rose laughing at the top of the hill as he finally skidded to a stop and groaned. "Mask." He called up, and she laughed again before standing at the top of the hill and looked down at him.

"Thanks. Mind if I join you?" He laughed and threw and arm over his eyes.

"Sure. Just watch out for-" She moved to walk down but tripped over a rock and went tumbling down the hill.

"WATCH OUT!" She screamed and he whipped his head up just to have Rose roll over him and send them both sprawling.

"I tried to fucking warn you. Did you listen? No. Of course not. Why would the almighty Rose listen?" He scoffed while getting up and brushing himself off. He held out a hand and grinned at her. "But she still needs someone to tell her anyways." She smiled at him and took his hand and pulled herself up. "Where'd ya get the mask?" Rose thought for a second before laughing airily.

"Can't remember."

Her eyes fluttered open and she saw Alex standing over her.

"Uh, hullo there." She said, and Alex's green eyes widened.

"Oh my gods, did I wake you up?" She shrugged before starting to sit up and she groaned.

"Nah. Ugh what happened?" She turned to look at him and Alex looked away. Rose leaned forwards and gripped his arm. "Alex?" He fidgeted uneasily, and she tightened her grip. "Alex."

"RYLEY! SHE'S AWAKE!" He shouted before yanking his arm from her grasp and started to dart away. Ryley's head popped around a corner and he looked at her with wide eyes. He pulled down the cloth and grinned as he jogged over. He opened his arms as she did and they embraced before he leaned back. She looked at him for a second before lifting a hand up and gently tugged on a strand of brown hair.

"You cut your hair?" He grinned and shrugged.

"It was long. Glad to see that you're awake." She nodded and looked around before settling her eyes on his face again.

"You haven't slept in a while. Why?" Ryley looked away.

"I was worried about you. What do you remember?" He sat beside her and she sighed and closed her eyes.

"I remember my room. There was blood, a lot of it, and then I remember waking up and hearing that I was here. And then... I had a dream." Ryley nodded.

"You were temporarily inhabited by Omega to fight Alex, who actually won." Rose's mouth opened slightly. "It wasn't actually you fighting. Had it been you, you would've won easily. Omega wanted to play with him and messed up. But he transferred the pain he would've felt over to you and well, shit happened."

"Did I hurt Alex?" Ryley shook his head.

"Nothing too bad. He's fine now. But we had to check your mental state after we determined that your physical state would be fine, so we're going to check your dreams. It'll take a while. But you can leave; I've decided that you're fine. So go along, scamper about and go mess with your little trouble maker friends." Ryley said with a grin and an eye roll as he helped her up and handed her a sword.
