Chapter Ten : Don't Lose Your Touch

Rose had grabbed a black scarf as she walked around her room; the black fabric covering her neck and the hand-shaped bruise that decorated it. As she paced around she fidgeted with the fabric nervously; biting her lip before sighing and standing up straight. She bit harder on her lip as she did so; her wince of pain obvious but Arson didn't mention it. His eyes were trained on her through his mask as she stretched and shot him a smile.

"It's just a fight. It'll be fine." Arson was silent as he thought and Rose just chuckled. "I can hear your brain straining from over here Arson. Spill." After adjusting her jacket in the mirror she walked out of her room and Arson trailed behind her; his eyes studying her as she locked her door and started to walk down the long hallway towards the weapons room. She gently pushed the door; but when it opened she sighed and pushed harder. She bit her lip in pain but shoved again and the large door swung open. She strode towards her wall and studied her weapons; forcing Arson to go over to his wall. Far too quickly for Rose's taste she had all the weapons she could want secured all over her body. She moved slowly towards her new sword from last time when she sighed.

"Rose, we both know that something real bad is with this fight. This is beyond just testing you against Avel." Rose moved sluggishly, trying to avoid the inevitable. "Are you even listening to me Rose?" She fiddled with her sword handle. Arson grabbed her shoulders and pain shot through her; jolting her out of her stupor. "Rose!"

"Yeah I know okay!" Rose turned sharply out of his grasp and pushed away the pain that was coming through her in wave. "I know that I'm the leader of this damn team, and that I need to get my shit together!" She turned away and hesitated in the doorway. "I don't need you to remind me how I'm failing." Arson watched her figure before sitting down and lighting one of his lighters and watched the flame dance above it.

"What has happened to us Rose...?"

Alpha had sent out to his followers to follow through with Omega's request, but his heart twisted as he did so. He knew what Omega's plan was, but the only thing was if Alpha himself could follow through.

It was for justice, but was it fair to his own follower?

Omega sat on a throne above the arena, with Rose standing by his side.

"Surely you understand what's occurring don't you Rose?" He said, his voice low as he continued to watch the rest of his followers. Arson had shown up after Rose and went to talk to Mardin; the two of them laughing and play wrestling. Alka was sitting quietly near by the two observing them and smiling once in a while. Rose was silent before responding.

"Of course. I know that this is to test me sir, but..." she was silent before glancing sideways through her mask to look at Omega. "There's something else I can't quite get my finger on." He chuckled and nodded. She turned her attention back onto her secondary family with a soft smile playing on her lips.

"You've started to lose your touch Rose." The smile froze on her lips. "Those are your minions as much as they are mine Rose. They are not your family." He sighed and crossed his legs and sat straighter taking in the entire arena. Tension was high in Team Alpha, and you could almost feel the hatred. "Show me that you are worthy of being more than my champion Rose." He turned his face towards her and took off his mask; the twisted horns adorning his head receded back into his head and brilliant red eyes with cat like pupils shined dangerously back at Rose. He looked her age... "Prove to me that we could be equals." He turned and snapped his fingers and she appeared back inside the arena; everyone turning to look at her arrival. She walked quietly over towards Arson and Mardin and offered them a smile before walking away and sat down. Omega grinned and turned towards his brother; who had just arrived.
