The charming hombre who coquetted with her only was in their high-end kitchen with their baby wrapped in his arms when she arrived home late in the night. He was patiently waiting for her to arrive. It had been hell of bear and skittles day with the ladies. The extensive talks and stuffed-in food.
Funny enough, stupendously-wild of them to have assembled, those female bastards had resolutely made her pay the fucking bill. It would have perhaps not freaked her out if it wasn't wholly and exclusively a super-bloody expensive restaurant. In the past, they had always paid together. But now, they just took a back-turn on her. Yes, almost certainly because of the ephemeral arguement that sprung up between them concerning bloody mary. Trust her commonsensical ability for a payback. She soon would own most of their beautiful currency figures for a week.
If not to everyone on the oblique, it was totally heart-wrecking to her that she had no one to bolster up with her on the topic. It was a win-win because their money was on the line, but she could have won straight up on a sitting, if she at least, had a backup. Even if it was that sour waitress who also thought she was crazy. Not even Freddy who always agreed with whatever she said gave in this time around. The fictional bloody Mary had instilled fears in them. She sighed and looked up to the man holding their baby. Fuck them.
He was humming a sweet lullaby to the drowsy infant in a hush tone so he wouldn't wake her up from her partly-observed sleep. From where she was, her extolling gaze rested upon him in admiration. He in an approximate manner made a representation of the ladies' man from where he stood, his back turned to her. She wondered what life would be if such a sturdy and handsome looking man was dispossessed of her. Conceivably, a little less dignifying. If he hadn't opted to babysit their precious jewel every Saturday while she was gone to meet with her coterie, she probably would have been left with no alternate choice than to get some nettlesome nanny. Bills on their credit cards.
During the week days, when she was at her place of work, her baby would be would be strapped around her chest with her baby carrier. She had been working for years at the MDC incorporated, and just like her husband, she held an upholstered position in the company. Every of her informalities were welcomed. Her baby didn't make much noise when she was working, alongside. It was either she was peacefully observing her siesta, angels whispering into her tiny ears, or she was playing with her favourite toys. Only on Saturdays was she around her daddy, when mommy wanted a day splendid off.
Her gaze wavered over him for a while before she walked over to meet him. She planted a kiss on his bonny cheek, which took him by great surprise. He flinched a little. He hadn't heard the door open. She took the sleeping baby from him when he had settled with her presence and dashed him that sorry look. The one she always effortlessly gave on every occasion when she had done something terribly wrong. If she hadn't made preparations of her baby's meal before now, she could have been more sorry.
"Dearie, I'm sorry I was late," She apologized as they left the kitchen to the baby's snuggly room. When they got there, she gently placed the baby into her crib and draped the little pink blanket over her. If the rosy boo-bae dared fluttered her eyes open, or wriggle a bit, hell, her plans were ruined. She would cry till daybreak.
"It's all good, honey. The baby's okay." David said as they walked to their bedroom. "How's the meet?"
Well, I'd start by saying I was forced to pay for the damned food.
"It was fun, babe. Was asked to extend a warm greeting to you."
He nodded with a small grin. "How nice. Next time you're to meet with them, take my card along with you and buy them dinner."
"Sure. Thanks, babe." It was a fleeting smile. Substantially sericeous and undefiled. But if she was still well proportioned to her feet, and her cerebellum working perfectly like it always had, she would never buy them dinner with the money.
