Everything changed within split seconds. Not that any of them had it in prospect, but the teenage girl disappeared from sight at that moment when Marcus hit the floor, only to appear at curled at the edge of a bed right beside the wall, crying in despair. Another teenage body revealed itself into the radge wave of building violence and tension, sprawled helplessly on the floor, and every other thing that was in the room before it was changed into the dream world created by Aloysius reversed. They realized the weeping teenager was howbeit innocent. Her appearance had only been borrowed to deceive them. Deianira grasped lightly as she took in the sight of the latest discovery. The girl on the floor owned the faint pulse she had heard outside. And the second girl haunched on the bed was the one who had been crying for help. Just when they arrived was when everything changed. Even the cries were still loud enough to be heard when they were almost at the door.
If only they had cultivated more.
When their eyes met the crying teenager, she startled upon seeing them, festering her hands on the wall behind her in search for safety. Asher sent her a reassuring look, little of his soft charms playing a role, and she calmed a bit.
They lowered their eyelids to Marcus who was facing chest flat on the floor, trying to process the rundown of the scenario. Their eyes opened slightly wide in disbelief. He had always been the impregnable one. Marcus wasn't so slow witted, as he was always the one who sensed incoming dangers first, but he had managed to fail on this round. Aurora had sensed the danger coming from the very moment she stepped her feet into the strange little house, and with her psychological mindset, she knew from start that something was wrong with the weird teenager. None of them operated microphones in close proximity to television set, as they weren't stupid, but now she wondered if any of them had taken the province test before getting considered. This act was sickening. They ought to have paid vigilance to the fact that something was off with the aura the young lady conveyed. She wasn't what she was supposed to be. A captive who looked safe and sound when the case should be else way. If everyone had listened her when she raised a little awareness about her, maybe Marcus wouldn't be on the floor now. Now, for a while, their leader was out of the survival game. Whilst he recuperated, they could take charge.
Reverting their gazes from marcus to the figure standing right before them, her intent stares was as vicious as theirs. Each of them had a reason to be in the warpath. Ethan felt betrayed. He had believed she was just an unfortunate teen who had truly been captured by Aloysius. Deianira wished she had spoken a lot earlier – she knew the scars wren't real. Aurora was different – She just wanted to slice through the flesh of this figure as the surge of anger poured over her, even though she knew how prepared she had to be. It was fortunate they hadn't sheathed their swords. They weren't entirely caught low on guard by the competency showoff.
"You're getting better at scheming, aren't you?"
Aloysius laughed at the Machiavellian game she had just levered with them, her scornful expression pleading guilty. It was her fun way of pulling her enemies to her feet. They were only a feet away from the house when she decided to pull the strings on the first half of the game. Unluckily for her, the impersonating had been a little unsuccessful as she had improvised at the very last minute, ending her up with a scar on the face. A reminder that her powers were limited. These dark days, the hunt for the demon queen had topped the hunters' grid, resulting into an endless battle, mount of dead bodies piled from both sides. It wasn't a win on her side as most of her gathered dark magic backfired since it wasn't properly nurtured before she used them on enemies. This last one had just proved it, or she wouldn't have been with a scar.
This wouldn't have happened if the sparkler was in her she shed.
"I wouldn't have to get better if the gemstone was here, safe in my hands," She swept her gaze on each of the people in the room, a light snicker on her lips. "But you humans have a way of killing dreams."
