The car came to an halt in front of the orphanage and all the female teenagers and workers working outside took a pause to catch a glimpse of who it was in curiosity. Ever since parents came to adopt wards and whatnot, none of them had ever flaunted such a luxurious asset. This particular people must be very rich and popular to have come with that kind of car to adopt or donate some cash.
They wondered who the car owners were going to adopt if at all they came for adoption and how blissful the person's life would be if he/she went with them because for someone to be this wealthy, their offspring would surely benefit a lot from it. But if the people weren't here for adoption of any kind, that meant they only came to donate some cash to the orphanage and that was a bonus for them. They'd have a buffet for quite some time and would not have to worry about eating the ever watery soup the cooks made for them for a while. It was such a pleasing thought.
They were taken by surprise when no parents, elders or young couple came out but their own very house mates _ Samantha and Veronica and a well built man they didn't know. The three of them alighted the car with broad smiles on their faces and laughed at something one of them had just said. The man walked over to the car trunk with the girls and jerked it open with the automatic remote in his hands, revealing the colourful bags in it.
They watched keenly as they girls carried all the bags out of the trunk and dropped them on the floor, counted everything to make sure they didn't forget any at the market and thanked the man profusely when were done with the offloading. It all seemed like a wonder to them as they interestingly watched the man smile and waved primly at them before heading back to his car and driving off immediately.
Who was this charming prince and why did he bring the girls home and even helped them with the groceries bags? They wondered inwardly with creased brows. Samantha and Veronica must have met the man at the market and they jealously thought it was a big luck for the girls to have come across such a compelling figure. Hesitantly, they went back to work when they noticed the girls were already walking toward their direction.
Samantha and Veronica held the heavy bags tightly in their grips and walked into the building past the sneaky people who pretended to be engrossed with their work without noticing the sly look on their faces. They decided to drop the bags in the kitchen for Mrs Williams because it was lunch time and she should be in the kitchen cooking with other women, before they went to Mrs Alice to let her know they were back from the market. They were really exhausted from all the walk and talk, especially Samantha and badly wanted to rest for the day.
"Do you think we should give the money to Mrs Alice?" Samantha asked playfully once they were close to the kitchen in an attempt to see how Veronica would react. They weren't going to give anyone the money even if Mrs Alice knew about it later because it was meant for them.
Veronica furrowed her brows and snickered. "Give the money to that damned woman? In honor of her treating us well or something else? My foot, Sam!"
Even if the earth opened and swallowed them, she still wouldn't let them give that woman the money. She was the one who put them through the stress they went through today although they gained massive cash out of it. If at all they wanted to let out a few dollars, it'd be to Mrs Williams and not the damned woman. Veronica thought and rolled her eyes.
Samantha laughed hard at her friend's outrageous behavior and shook her head playfully. Mrs Alice was Veronica's most hated person and everyone knew that because she made it obvious. She only wanted to pull her legs, it wasn't like they were going to give the money to her anyway.
"That Lestat guy," she started. "I think I've seen him somewhere before."
"In your dreams?" Veronica asked playfully and snorted loudly. "I know you're already in love with him but don't come up with that pretence. We've never seen a cute guy like him anywhere."
