"vera," Samantha called out softly in fear, her hands gripping tightly on the basket of tomatoes she was holding. They'd only been out for a few minutes to pick up an errand for the angry Mrs Alice and she was feeling the cold chills on her neck again.

It was morning, unlike all other days it happened to them and the worst part was that Evelyn left for the competition with the team yesternight so there was no way she could still hold her suspicions against her. She'd been right all along; it wasn't Evelyn behind the schemes.

Veronica bit on her lower lip and shifted her gaze on her friend in guilt. She could feel the sensations too and it seemed to be very nearer to them more than it had ever been. She might have hated Evelyn for her misconducts and selfish attitude, but she thought she had gone a little too far to as framing her for what she didn't have a hand in at all.

Evelyn was gone but the stalker was still somewhere hiding with its intent eyes keenly on them. She wasn't much of a church girl but she knew the sensations were out of ordinary and it might be in someway connected to their living at the orphanage because they've never felt anything like that whenever they went somewhere faraway from the town. They might have been put into a spiritual commitment when they were brought into the orphanage by something they didn't even know they did. Life was so unpredictable. Veronica thought.

"I feel it, too, Sam. I don't understand what's happening," She replied,  consecutively shaking her body into a starting point. She wanted badly more than anything to run inside the building and drape the thick covers over her for the rest of the day but sadly, Mrs Alice would lash the hell out of her with her sharp tongue if she did and make her stay out the whole day.

Samantha sighed and broke out in tears silently. She wasn't Veronica who didn't know anything about the absurd things that happened in the world or even have a hint of it if something bad was about to happen. She, Samantha, could see any slight change in things and detect the wrong and right in it immediately without having to run to any high priest or guru to help her out. But the problem she had was that she never knew where the issues were coming from. People with that kind of spiritual intelligence were always missing out something very important and this very area she lacked at was where she needed knowledge the most.

There was something else she was leaving out and it was concerning how the sensations appeared to Veronica in an obnoxious way. She remembered her narrating how she heard an howling sound at dawn in the building when she was cleaning and the scary silhouette of the person she saw when she went to check what it was; the presence of the woman and the way she grabbed her neck in an attempt to commit a murder. That was another thing to worry about because it was obvious the demon had access into the building!

A demon wouldn't be after either of them if they were no reasons for doing so, and that meant one of them had an item or possession that belonged to the demon. And that could only happen if they've had some sort of relationship with the demon before or even at the moment. They could have been lured into an affinity by the demons on a promise to fulfill their wishes and as a human, wouldn't hesitate to accept the mouthwatering offer.

That meant only one thing _ someone had a connection with the demon.

Rolling her eyes sideways sheepishly, Samantha nudged her friend gently and placed a hand over her shoulders.

"Weird stuff's been happening to us lately and I wonder where these are all coming from," she started and pouted her lips, thinking of what to say next. "Especially that woman that attempted to kill you. Literally, that's a big problem for us, knowing fully you're not longer safe."

Veronica nodded and shuddered her shoulders. "I've been worrying, too. A mere wonder wouldn't explain how scared I am right now. The damned woman had her stupid claws on my fucking neck! Am I some sort of beef meat waiting to be served? That motherfucker almost had me torn apart."
