It’s been one week since Nathan and I were in the tree house in the woods and we now had three days off before we had our flight back to the U.K. I wanted to surprise everyone so I decided to take them somewhere special.
I got the bus driver to take us all back to my place in Grosse Pointe. Nobody knew where we were going except Tori, myself, and Holly who was back at the house. We all got out and got all the bags up into my room.
I walked in and waved to Holly, Erica, Jae, Bex, Jules, Ami, Kels, and Evie who were all sitting around waiting for us. I hugged Holly as she came up to me and asked me how everything went. I started telling her before I heard about six duffels drop to the floor. When I turned I saw Max holding Ami tightly, both of them smiling like idiots, Siva had Erica’s feet off the ground in a hug, and Becca was being spun around by Jay.
I smiled as I sat on my vanity while I watched everyone start to talk. I had to say that I was pretty happy that we all became friends. If we hadn’t then none of this would have ever happened. I looked at Holly again and smiled.
“So should we tell them or just take them and make it a surprise?”
“I say we pile them in the car and just make them wait. I mean they’ll all love it anyways.” Holly replied while shrugging her shoulders.
I nodded in agreement and stood up on my vanity chair to get everyone's attention. They all looked at me as I found my balance.
“Alright! Everybody pack a bag for the next three days for warm weather, cool breezes and water! And fast, we leave in,”
I glanced down at my watch I was wearing.
“An hour. So move it!” I clapped my hands and everyone scattered.
Nathan came up to me and put his hands on my waist as I put mine on his shoulders and he picked me up and spun me around before setting me down on the floor while we both smiled.
“Do I get to know where we’re going?” he whispered in my ear before kissing just behind it.
“Nope.” I smiled as I kissed his cheek and went to put a bag together for myself.
It didn’t take long for all of them to have their bags ready and piled into the trunks of two vans that we rented. They would take us and drop us off at the surprise location and then come back for us in three days time to bring us home.
It took us three hours to get there and that was three solid hours of Nathan complaining to me about how we weren’t in the same car. This made me laugh like a maniac which in turn made Tori, Tom, Becca, Jay, and Holly howl in laughter as I read the texts out.
Soon enough the vans pulled into the driveway of the Amato family cottage. It looked a bit small on the outside but on the inside it was a generous size. With four bedrooms, two baths and a being on a double lot, no one was complaining.
We all pulled our bags out and piled them inside each of us calling different rooms and settling in. I pulled Nathan with me into the smallest of the rooms that had a full bed and a small tv. I smiled as I tossed my bag on the bed and shuffled through for some things.
As I did so, I felt Nathan’s arms wrap around me and his chest press up against my back. His lips softly connected with the skin behind my ear as I began to relax.
“You’re gorgeous, you know that...” he whispered in my ear.
I didn’t answer, just closed my eyes and smiled while placing my hands over his.
“Soph! I’m gonna go to the store then we’re taking the boat and jet skis out! Get ready!” I heard Holly holler to us as she walked down the hall and not long after I heard her as well as a few others go out the screen door.
I smiled and grabbed my things before turning in Nath’s arms and kissing him lightly.
“Better get ready!”
With that I slipped from his arms and went into the bathroom and locked the doors. I stripped out of my clothing and slipped on my coral bikini top that had anchors on it an a paisley trim on the inside edges before putting on the solid blue bottoms. Over it I had my denim shorts and pulled on one of my oversized plaid camping shirts with the sleeves rolled up. I didn’t button the shirt, but instead took the bottom and tied it around the narrowest part of my waist so my stomach showed.
I grabbed my old clothes and walked out of the bathroom. Coming into the bedroom, I tossed my stuff on my bag and put my hair up into a messy bun before grabbing my sunglasses and slipping on my flip flops.
I came into the living room to see everyone was either outside, still getting ready, or went to the store. I put on my sunglasses as I went out the side screen door and walked out back to the dock where the boat was. I still hadn’t seen where Nath went but I didn’t care as I saw the fish swimming around in the water.
Pushing my sunglasses up onto my head, I smiled and sat down after taking off my flip flops and let my feet dangle in the water. I remembered how when I was younger I would steal some bread from the little kitchen and come out here and feed the fish. I would always try to catch one or two and when I got one I would name it before putting it back.
I closed my eyes and brought one knee up as I rested my head on it just reminiscing about old times. After a bit I felt someone walking along the short dock and they sat behind me. I opened my eyes and saw Jay sat there smiling.
“Hey, are you okay?” he spoke quietly.
I smiled as his voice matched the stillness of the water. Nodding, I looked down to the water again before looking at him.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
“That’s good. It’s a nice place up here.”
“Yeah, it’s my grandparents. Holly and I come up here all the time.”
“That’s nice. So I wanted to ask you, what do you think you’ll do when we all go back to London?”
Shrugging my shoulders, I looked down at my hands. “I’m not sure. I just have to make the most of it and take it a step at a time.”
“And I want you to know that no matter what happens, I’ve seen the way Nath looks at you.”
I looked at him a bit confused before he hugged me and stood up walking back towards the house and going in.
I stood up and went to sit on the boat before laying down on the back that was higher to get a bit of a tan.
A sharp wolf whistle cut through the air as a smirk took over my face. Sitting up, I saw Nathan walking towards me in his trunks and a tank top with his aviators on. I could tell that behind his aviators there was a mischievous glint in his eye.
“Very sexy babe, very sexy. “ he said as he got on the boat and and I turned so my feet rested on the seat below.
As he came in between my legs, he gave me a long, soft kiss.
“Didn’t know where you went. But I was hoping for that reaction.” I smiled as I kissed him again and wrapped my arms around his neck.
The others came out soon and Nathan moved up to sit beside me as the rest of them sat around the benches. Tom and Tori decided to take a jet ski and Jay and Becca went on the other.
After spending the entire day out on the lake, we came home and had a barbecue and a bonfire. The night ended perfectly as we all sat under the starry sky and telling stories from when we were younger.
I turned to Nathan as I was on his lap and kissed him.
“I love you.” I whispered.
Kissing me again he whispered “I love you too.”
