Chapter 8

My bare feet padded on the wood floors as I went to get the door.

“AHHHHH! I’m so glad you’re okay!” Jules yelled as she enveloped me in a hug. She was the first to come in followed by Jae (Jaelyn), Kels (Kelsey), Bex (Becca), Ami, Erica, Holly, and Evie. After we all hugged and they all apologized for the night before (I did forgive them) Tori came bursting down the stairs to greet everyone.

“Hey guys! I missed you so much!” she said as they started a group hug large enough that they all couldn’t fit in the foyer.

As they kept talking I went back into the kitchen to get Nathan but found that he wasn’t there. I went outside and realised that it was starting to get dark, but the sunset was magnificent over the lake. All at once at least thirty paper lanterns lit up the brick patio and music started playing softly from one corner. It was absolutely magical. I soon felt a pair of arms around my waist and a head on my shoulder. I turned my head slightly to see Nathan looking at me and just smiling slightly. I smiled back before he took my hands in his.

“May I have this dance?” He asked still staring at me.

“Yes, you may.” I answered while setting my hands on his shoulders. I could feel his hands on my hips as he just smiled down at me. I couldn’t tell at first what was playing but quickly came to realise that it was Heart Vacancy, their second single. I have to say that it was one of my favourites. I soon stepped in and rested my head on his chest while still swaying to the beat of the music. I never wanted this moment to go away.

Soon enough the music ended and some club music started playing and everyone else arrived on the patio. I was quickly separated from Nathan as I was surrounded by all of my girls.

“That was so sweet!” I heard Erica say.

“You two are so adorable together!” Ami cooed.

“Are you two dating?” asked Evie.

After about ten more questions and comments like those, none of which I even got a chance to answer, I saw Jay bravely make his way through the crowd of girls.

“Are we ever going to be introduced?” he asked me while laughing.

“I don’t know. Ask them. I would have everyone introduced by now if it wasn’t for their questions!” I said back while giggling.

Soon enough I had introduced everyone to each other and Jay looked like he was in heaven as Evie, Kels and Erica were all standing around him as they all drank beers. Jae, Ami, Jules, Holly, Tori, and Bex were all standing talking to Max, Siva, and Tom. After everyone was in some sort of group, I walked inside to get something. I didn’t know what yet but I just wanted to be alone right now.

I skipped steps as I went up to the bedroom and walked in not expecting to see anybody but instead I found Nathan sitting on the bed leaning against the headboard. I walked over and sat next to him as he smiled at me and put his arm around my shoulder.

“Why are you up here? I thought that you would be outside.” I asked after a minute.

“Well everyone was in a group and I’m not feeling my most social at the moment.”

“Does that mean I should leave?”

“No. I just meant not social with everyone else.”

“Ohhhh…”

“What do you mean ‘ohhhh’?” he said raising an eyebrow and looking down at me.

“Nothing… just this…” I said as I turned around and kissed him. It definitely caught him off guard but after a second he started kissing back and pushed me over on my back. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me. I soon felt him bite my lip gently and we started making out. I sat up still kissing him and his hands grabbed my hips. I pulled away and leaned my forehead against his.

“So whose idea was the little dance session earlier?” I asked smiling.

“Mine, but the boys were trying to tell me not to seeing as I’m not the greatest dancer.” he answered, kissing me again.

I pulled back once more, “Well I think you’re spectacular. Now come on. I hope you’re feeling more social now ‘cause I was gonna get everyone to play truth or dare outside!” I hopped off the bed, dragging him with me. We got to the door but Nathan stopped me just before I opened it.

“Soph, will you really stay with me until we go to America?”

“Of course I will. I’d love to!” I answered, kissing him on the cheek and proceeded to pull him down the stairs and outside to the others.
