I woke up with my head on the pillow next to Nathan who was looking at me slightly worried as I was breathing quickly.

“Are you okay?” he asked while sitting up on his elbows.

“Yeah. I’m fine.” I lied so that I wouldn’t cause him more stress.

“You’re sure?” he questioned me probably telling by my face that I wasn’t.

“No.” I whimpered cuddling up closer to him. I could hear his heartbeat as I leaned my head in between his chest and the pillow. I hadn’t felt comfort like that for seven years and it made me feel good, but I couldn’t help the tears from streaming down my face.

I could tell he realised that I was crying as he now had lifted me up to lean against his chest while he was leaning against the headboard of the bed. “Shh, shh, don’t cry.” he whispered to me while running his fingers through my hair, which just made me cry harder, because that’s what my father had said to me right after he told me that he was moving. Nathan finally pulled me up so that I was kneeling in front of him and he looked me straight in the eye as he said “Sophia, I don’t know why you’re crying but I don’t want you to cry. What do I need to do to have you stop?”

I just looked at him for a second before taking a deep breath and saying “I just need to hear a heartbeat other than mine. I know it sounds weird but…” Before I could finish my sentence he had pulled me in to a warm hug so that I was against his chest. I put my arms around him, just trying to hold onto this moment forever.

After about three minutes or so, we heard a knock at the bedroom door, which reminded me of my hangover. All of two seconds later, Tori popped her head in and said “Hey Tom and I are going out, do you wanna come?”

I looked up at Nathan and he gave me a look that said “Whatever you want.”

“Maybe we’ll meet you later.” I told her, and with that she left us in the bedroom again.

“Do you want to do anything today?” I asked sitting up next to him while stretching my spine. All of a sudden I felt something run from the bottom of my back up my spine to the top of my neck which made me yelp and jump up, but before I was able to stand up I could feel Nathan’s hands on my hips and he flipped me around so that I was now straddling him. I put my arms around his neck and placed myself an arms length away. I was staring into his gorgeous eyes when I felt his thumb brushing against my cheek, wiping away whatever was left of my tears.

“I don’t want to see you cry again, ever. Okay?” he said to me while looking deep into my eyes. I just nodded in agreement and proceeded to get up, grabbing his hand as he intertwined his fingers with mine. And with that, we walked downstairs to do something with whatever was left of the day.
