Zariah
"My heart will ache forever to know my first love is my first ruse."
These words. This one fucking sentence killed everything. He couldn't remember it anymore but I could never forget it.
Whatever was between us was dead. In fact, It wasn't alive in the first place.
"Taking my hand? Don't joke around, you would never," I muttered.
He won't take my hand. Never.
I couldn't interpret how delicately he stole a part of my soul and then agonized it until the remains were left.
"What happened?" Father asked when I came down.
"Nothing."
Upholding my demeanor, I didn't show him what I was going through.
"Don't act suspicious, Nathaniel will kill us if he comes to know about our plan." Father whispered to me before going to his room.
With a hollow nod, I walked away, not even bothering to reply to his words.
He was right after all. I truly was a lifeless being stringed to orders.
I went to the kitchen. I like cooking his food so I checked up on the food, I turned off the stove and turned to order Vera.
"Vera, serve dinner and call everyone."
"Yes, Madam." She nodded and left me alone.
I was about to leave as well to call him myself but he came to me.
"Wha-"
Pinning me against the counter harshly along with a vigorous fire burning in his eyes, convulsing me but mostly confused.
What happened to him?
"What the hell is your problem!?" He hissed.
Roughly placing his palm on my cheek to withstand the fatality of his eyes latched with mine.
"What did I do?" I asked softly, not knowing what happened when I should be the one angry at him.
"Drop that act of innocence." As long as you consider it an act, nothing will change.
He growled. Fingers lingering over my hair, imprinting his rage in my core.
"But what happened?"
I questioned again, trying to create some distance between us.
"It wasn't me. It's you." He growled, still perturbed about my words of calling myself an incurable case.
"I didn't devastate you, Zariah Ezekiel, you were destroyed already."
With the final scowl, he pushed me away.
Even with one step distance, he created an unbreakable interval among us.
"I know..." 'Everything died in the memory you no longer remember.'
My voice cracked up, looking down in lamentation.
"I know I am fragmented, Nathaniel."
My vision blurred up with tears, knocking emptiness in my deserted land where I can't even plead him for mercy.
"That's why..."
On the verge of crying, I looked at his hand, gathering all my courage for the sake of our promise, begging him.
"Please find me."
I almost broke into a sob, wiping my eyes to eradicate the existence of tears which staggered him.
