"Ta!" She truly had that radiance on her face, making her look arresting.

"I didn't know you can handle kids." I smirked, drowning in her shine on her face, sitting on the other side but my eyes were fixed on her face in mesmerization.

"I love kids." She whispered, not lifting her head, giving all her attention to Arya.

"How old is she? Three months?" She asked, playing with her.

"I guess." I hummed. I stared at her with a pure smile on her lips, playing with Arya, for a moment.

"You're so beautiful." I whispered, noticing her blush faintly.

The shine stolen from her flickered in her eyes which brought a smile to my lips to watch her regaining what's stolen from her even for a scant heartbeat but it shone in her arresting gaze.

"What?" She asked nervously, looking up at me, "Why are you looking at me like this?"

"How many partners did you have before me?" I instantly regret what I asked.

I shouldn't ask a question whose answer I cannot bear, "Does it matter?" She asked, smile fading. "Tell me."

"Five or so, I don't remember clearly nor that it ever mattered to me." She told me coldly.

"Did it make you hate me?" She mocked, curling her lips from one side.

"Did they touch you?" I asked.

"No. That's the only condition I put. I didn't want a repulsive hand on my body." She replied, bringing her hand close to touch Arya but I grabbed her wrist.

"Then why did you let me take your virginity?" I growled, feeling powerless before the mist before me.

Why am I your exception?

"It was necessary. They were nowhere near your level. You are the biggest Ace of the underworld among all five. Obviously, I would have done that for you." She lied, trying to pull her hand back.

"It was more than that, don't lie." I scowled, grip tightening on her.

"What are you doing? Leave me. Don't leave a wrong impression before the baby." She winced, pulling her hand back.

"Or are you just complying with our contract? You just wanted to follow the terms of our contract, huh?" I asked in a growl, sitting up.

"I don't know what you are talking about. What do you mean by contract? What's in that?" She asked, getting up as well, narrowing her eyes in disquiet.

"Then wh-" I was about to ask angrily but my raised voice startled Arya as she began to cry.

Zariah yanked her hand back from me and picked her up, "What the hell is wrong with you, Nathaniel? You startled her. Can't you have some patience? We can talk about it in the room too." She scolded, moving back and getting up and picking Arya.

"You are the one who wanted your doll to hold emotions, so when I show them to you, why do they hurt you? You didn't want me to follow Father, I am not. So what's your problem now?" She asked sadly, trying to soothe Arya.

"Because that's not what I want you to become." I reasoned, getting up as well but it eventually converted her melancholia into repulsion.

"Exactly, you are just like my Father. You want to mold me the way you want, you don't care about me, you don't care about how I feel." She snapped, astounding me as I never thought about things from that perspective.

"All you care about is what you want me to be and then later blame me for being emotionless. You are the same as my Father, Nathaniel so stop blaming me for being heartless." She growled, busting the emotions building like a lava in her heart, drowning her in this heat but her words didn't hurt me that much- but they did.
